Do you not like it? I think it looks neat.
Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11: 25-26

At first glance it looks a little... erm... lewd. Heck, it looks that way on second glance, too. Kinda... not what I expected to see there.
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. - attributed to Samuel Adams

I happen to think it's rather nicely done. True, it's intimate, but still it's done in a rather tasteful way. I don't think of it as overly lewed or (to chosse an extreme) erotic.
The embrace looks more of two people sharing a moment. I've seen art of a similar sort, with clothes, that seemed much more suggestive then this.
In short, I like it.

Well, it's not that different than this.
I'm sure the folks at portal of evil and something awful would make jokes but screw them.
What's the translation?

A few have asked me to translate the caption.
While the caption itself has no lewd or off-color remarks (though it does seem to have one semi-ambiguous pronoun) and is rather a very sweet group of terms of endearment, I think that it would be better if both Ralph and the person who commissioned the artwork would give their okay first before I post a public translation of what is being said.
Odd, who here besides myself is fluent or semi-fluent in Spanish?

Roughly translated:
"To my beloved friend, my confident, my angel.
I adore you."
..I think. I don't speek italian or spanish (and I can't tell between the two easily) but French is my first language, and fortunetly Romance Languages share enough common points that I can fudge my way through a rough translation.

*sigh* At least I didn't butcher the translation like I had feared when I read the first comment about the commission. -.- The caption is meant to say: "To my dear friend, my confidant, my angel: I adore you." Any horrible grammar (ambiguous pronoun?) would be due to my intermediate knowledge of Spanish.
This is meant as a simple (and touching) gift piece for a person who had grown to be quite dear to my soul in a rather short amount of time. He has quickly become my dear friend, my confidant, and is sweet as an angel.
Overall, I am very pleased with the commission and think it’s beautiful and well done. Happily, my friend also thinks it a touching gift. (After I had to explain to him why the ‘comic’ seemed eerily familiar.) Thank you, RH.
I am surprised and a bit sad to see it being immediately seen as lewd or suggestive. I did not ask for a nude commission, though I did not specify any particular style of clothing either.
Would you see it differently if RH had drawn a few more lines and filled in with different color representing shorts or other clothes? Is that really all it is? No clothes = must be a sexual act being depicted? Am I simply imagining that I commissioned (and RH accurately depicted) a image of a pair in a warm embrace? Not every embrace is sexual. Would you think a hug given to a sibling, which might be just as tender (think a close brother-sister bond), as automatically sexual? [/ticked off tail-twitch]

No one meant to offend you, but Ralph doesn't draw unclothed furries very often. The ones that he HAS done ARE expressing physical affection (or at least, those on the Uber CD).
The ambiguous pronoun is "LE". I thought you wanted to say "I adore HIM", in which case LE or LO would have sufficed. You wanted to say "I adore YOU", but Spanish has 2 forms of second person singular: formal and familiar. Given that you're familiar with this person, you might have wanted to use TE and not LE. LE would be used with strangers, an employer, or your teachers.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make a direct correlation, just to point out that the author hasn't been a total prude in the past.NydaLynn wrote:[ticked off tail-twitch] Frankly, I find the supposed correlation offensive!Ransom Returns wrote:Well, it's not that different than this.

Unfortunately, I didn't see the commission until I saw the forum post (had to reload page) so I suppose my mind might have been predisposed, but even then I thought it was more "intimate" than sexual. I think it was a wonderful gesture on your part, and glad your friend appreciated it!

While the nudity did catch my eyes, I've seen enough dirty pics (or far more than I should; depends on my current state of mind) to know this wasn't one. Perhaps a bit sensual and intimate, but there's no sex going on. It's a picture of a couple enjoying each other's embrace, and the lack of clothes is a mere technical detail. Sure, it could be sexual... but only if you really want to see it that way.
In any case, I apologize to Nyda Lynn if the more perverted side of my mind found anything sexual in this. I admit I haven't walked quite as closely to God as I should, and it's resulted in perverted thinking at times. It's sometimes hard not to see things in a sexual light, and I am truly sorry that my thoughts about the pic may not have been entirely pure. My path's a little darker than it should be I suppose...
Still, it's a good pic, and I'm glad he likes it. I just wish nudity wasn't such associated with sex so much in our society.

I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

Put some dang clothes on, hippies.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
