Well I did it, I bought a domain. http://www.back2roxboro.com will be live in a couple of days once all the DNS gets sorted out. The og links are still working and I don't think anybody will have any trouble getting to the comic whichever way they choose. But the site should display the new URL as soon as everything gets done. ^.^
Rock on, man. Getting a domain is something I've been considering for a while, but I'm not exactly clear on how it works with ComicGenesis, specifically the ads. If I had to pay for my own hosting, I'd definitely want some ad revenue to help support it.
I assume you're staying aboard CG... Don't know about you, but I'd hate to miss out on that newshack traffic. :-)
Oh definately! I'm not going anywhere and as far as payment I can swing 20bucks a year for a private listed address from go daddy.com No need for anything extra they even give me an email addy so that's a worthwhile investment in my opinion
Right now it is broke because it is in the process of being named on the CG servers. You can look at my help center post Domain Park Request for more info. I'm not sure I totally understand it myself. But originally Godaddy had it pointed or forwarded to back2roxboro.comicgenesis.com. After the admins are done http://www.back2roxboro.com will display in the address bar no matter how you get there originally... I think...
actually it's kinda selective, if you're lucky you can catch a few name servers early as they refresh their tables at different times. Sprint already has the new information as i can see on dsl but my home cable provider charter hasn't picked it up yet.
