Well there goes my punchline...

Post by SergeXIII »

The latest VG Cats is very similar to a comic I did 2 weeks ago. Although its not like a genius punchline...

Not saying he copied of me, of course that isn't the case, but now anyone rumeging through my archives will think i stole that one.

Don't you hate it when that happens?

Well, it's actually not all that uncommon for different people to come up with the same joke. Hell, a gritty assassin like Snake going into Super Smash Bros, that joke writes itself. It's like saying every gaming comic stole the idea to make fun of the name "Wii" from each other.

I think the fact that Raiden showed up was the best part of the comic though, personally.

The only real thing about your comic that bothered me was how slow your site loaded and functioned versus the VG cats site. I thought maybe it was the silly-big filesize of the comic, but I've seen bigger. (Though there's no need of going over 200k :P) So I dunno.

Your comic made me laugh though. The thing Mario said was swell.

This is why you date your comics. So they can see that yours was made first.

For a second I thought you said they stopped making fun of the name 'wii' all together. Jeebes, it's getting to the point where any mention of wii burns like a prickle bush.

I think that both comics are valid since everyone gets killed in different ways. Heck, I say someone else do their take on this gag, make a collection of them all, and turn 'em in into one big Snake massacre.

I'm surprised no one's made one of Snake in the box getting killed instead of him killing people. After all, how uncommon is it really for someone in Smash Bros. to, say, throw an explosive at someone, miss, and subsequently hit a box, instead? ^_~

Really? I made the switch from .GIF to .JPEG a few months ago and no one has complained about the load time before. Is it too slow again?

He totally stole the mask thing from MI3! *He held my hand in the theater when we watched it.*

Naw but seriously, these things will happen when you run a parody comic.

It'll happen to most anyone really, similar tastes and so on...I mean somone is bound to have a cute ghost with a witches hat like my Manco.

But...Manco will undoubtably be cuter! So they can just suck it.

It was VERY slow for me as well, on dual T1's.

might want to watch watch your compress rating, though those backgrounds in that comic look like would be a lot of colours. but your strips are way bigger than my coloured ones and I tend go heavy on the gradients.

But if they can't take the piss out of the Wii(ho ho take the piss out of the wii ho ho. this is why i don't write the webcomic...) and the fact the playstation control pad used to look LIKE A BOOMERANG (holy shit, I am funny) what will Tycho write stunningly long, hilariously overblown news posts about? On that other hand it could see P.A return to it's glorious roots.

Tycho: Tribes 2 sure took a long time....
The other one: Yeah...
Tycho: Know what else is funny?
The other one: John Romero?
Tycho: Yeah....
The other one: BUY A T SHIRT!

If you're using "save for/to web" in photoshop once you're done coloring, there really is no need for it to go over 200k. I say 200 only cause that seems to be around the norm for ctrl+alt+del at times, and while Tim Buckley should by no means be considered a standard, he is popular, so if they were considered too big, he'd probably know by now.

The question is, would he care? Not sure. :P I'm also not sure if it's just the comic that slows the page down. Some comicgen comics sometimes get to retarded levels of like 600k, but those load much faster than yours. May wish to look into the filesizes of everything on the site...something isn't user friendly there.

I'm not sure that I ever wrote a joke that was original.
However, timing and context usually differ.

Whenever I'm in the process of drawing a gag, I always, always develop an eerie feeling that I've subconsciously stolen it from somewhere.

OOOoooh, oh right I forgot about that.

Yeah, I started using .JPEGs when I became satisfied with hand drawn backgrounds with a coat of 55.4% transparent paint. I had a brain fart and used my old stlye without .GIFing it.

The other comics, like the newest one, come up fine right?

I can't say they're exactly the same idea. One was funny and well-done, the other...
