Eurovision Song Festival
Eurovision Song Festival
last night I had the best laugh I had in weeks. I was watching the Eurovision Song Festival Just to watch the entry from finland. Finland send in a Hard Rock band named Lordi. this was pretty odd since the festival is meant for Pop and Folk music. Just out of curiosity I kept watching to see how finland would end. to my surprise Finland managed to rake in a record amount of points. I sat there watching with a huge smile on my face as I saw how Lordi got point after point while the commentators got more and more agitated because this "Freakshow from Finland"was winning the contest. Lordi Won with a record amount of 292 points.
Here's the winning song.

did you watch in at the Dutch commentaries? We always switch to BBC for this kind of things ^^ The commentary there was pro-Finland and thought their own song was horrible! So cool!
He also had a dry sense of humor. Quote when England got a point: "You gave a point to us... are you daft?!"
*grins*
He also rightly commented to Paul de Leeuw: "Whoever chose this guy?!" I was so -embarrassed- when Paul de Leeuw was announcing the Dutch points and in between tried to be funny by flirting with one of the hosts of the Eurovision (probably the male host). His English was horrible as well!

yeah well...since the girl was off the stage it could only be the mann he was flirting with...yeah it's somewhat like that idols thing...every country sends in a band, singer or whatever and then they get preliminaries etc then there's a few left and you got a big show...and guess what a lot of people didn't like these guys to win...what do you think of the song by the way, I like it a lot.
well there was this actiongroup...and most of the scandinavian countrys voted big time for them...hehe there're even t-shirts with the text I vote Lordi and stuff like that. Lordi has also been in the news a lot. they've been accused of satanism and what not because of their costumes. and stuff like that. big reason for a lot of youths to vote for them
here's a picture

and yes they don't take those costumes off in public.

I'm not a big metal fan and I don't like orcs, so I guess I'm not the first person to LOVE them. But they are "okay" in my opinion ^^. My sister was totally freaking out when they were about to win. Because she -is- a big metal fan and she loves orcs.
But I do think it's cool that they stay in character the whole time, and at least their text was understandable. Mostly with these kind of songs I think it's more like grunting and screaming.
They were accused of satanism? I missed that. But I did read somewhere that one of their other songs is named "The devil's a looser". That does not sound like a song by satanists?

What cracks me up is that the people who flip out most about Satanism are Christian... and Satanism is actually more Christian than anything else (The idea is that Christ & God are on your side, so it's Satan you have to appease). What's extra ironic is that Christians often accuse people of being Pagan AND Satanic - even though Pagans don't believe in Satan.
