I voted Smokey because Kwerki wasn't available. Smokey's cool and everything, but Kwerki is my favorite. She's awesome!

Your username makes me think of Pink Floyd... And that's nice.

Kwerki is the H-Bomb.

Funny, their username reminds me of the RPG called Earthbound... XD

Having played just about every real RPG in the world, and having never heard of this one, of course, I had to google... My fears were confirmed almost immediately.

'Earthbound' Publishers wrote: The term RPG used to mean little more than a game, based in medieval times, where you battled mythical monsters with swords and magic. Few games dare to defy this mold that seemed to be cast upon the genre.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, computer game.
Wrong fucktards. (not you, them) The term RPG used to mean actual role playing games... Where you developed a character and actually role played that character through situations too complex to be pitched to you by anything short of another sentient human being.

Something you do on a computer, against the computer, is a "role playing game" in the same sense that playing Leisure Suit Larry is dating.

Honor, while I may not be a big fan of Pink Floyd (okay, I despise every song they ever did), your comments on RPGs have caused me to be in love with you. I would ask you to marry me, but since straight people do it, it kinda loses meaning.

Kidding, breeders, kidding!

Wow... You're way ahead of me. I like Pink Floyd quite a bit, but I haven't even heard every song they ever did. Just as well, if I might despise them... I try to save my despise points for stuff that really deserves it, like republican politicians, serial killers, rapists, and religious fundies of all stripes. It's hard for me to imagine music so bad I'd actually bother to despise it. ;-)

As for the marrying part... We could just play house for a while? :-)

I'll marry you two. It wouldn't hold any legal weight, but it sure would hold all the spiritual weight you cared to invest in it ;)

Eh, a video game for the SNES which is labeled *as* an RPG. Better? :P At any rate, I happen to like the video game Earthbound and was happy in the pants when I heard they finally made a sequel.

As for Pink Floyd, I may have heard a little bit, but honestly I don't have any favoritism whatsoever in music. I couldn't tell you for the life of me who's singing most of the music I have, apart from major people like the Beatles.

I've actually listened to every Pink Floyd album there is, except Momentary Lapse of Reason, and I own all except that, Ummagumma , More, and Division Bell. They're my favourite band, i have a fan t-shirt, a wall-flag and Nick Masons book, and even some bootlegs.
The gospel preacher, the hostile teacher/The face of God with an impostor's features
This is the prophecy - the cult leader/The people's temple, the holy ground, the war compound
Four-pound to rifles, disciples, the holy idles/Supreme truth, the cult leader with the green tooth
The multi-millionaire with a stare that can freeze troops/I program people to kill
The motiviational speaker, my words cause people to feel/It's mind control, let the cult leader guide your soul
Open up your eyes to the lies he told/The general, the chief, I be the political pioneer
The cult leader, you can believe in me, I am here/Bless the children, take you under my wing, shelter
Helter Skelter, this is it, you can't kill me I'll exist forever. Cult Leader!

when did they make a sequel to Earthbound? sure, it wasn't any good as an RPG, but it certainly made for a decently amusing psychotic giggle-fest. I'm sorry, but i don't think i'm capable of failing to enjoy a game that involves anhillating irate chiuauas (one of the enemy sprites) with a vorpal frying pan and garage-built laser rifle. Or teddy brand ablative armor. Or the classic suffering bind effects from tentacled enemies. happens in most every one, and i can't help but always like that (but that's another ramble on in-game pseudo-bondage, and i don't have time before class for it today)

Honor, while i agree with most of what you said about RPGs, i'd like to say that while computer-based ones where you play against the machine are not INHERENTLY true RPGs, nothing stops someone from applying a bit of imagination to treat the machine as the Auto-GM Mark3. I agree wholeheartedly that true RPGs are better. but console ones make a decent in-betweener, and freeforms people get stroppy at you if you feel a need to go on a de-stressing rampage for 6-8 hours stomping geebas.

I belong at the back of the cool line. I like a little Pink Floyd, but I've been outed as a fan of an SNES game. :(
While the games' publishers may have misrepresented the term RPG, I'd cut 'em some slack because they put out the single most important platform game from the nineties.

I noticed the poll and had to come register to cast my vote...I had to toss a coin between Kiki and Chibi Sue (Sue won), but it just seemed necessary to vote because the two characters leading the race are actually among my four last choices.

Not that I actually dislike them, because I don't...it's just that there are only one or MAYBE two others on the list that I wouldn't get to before them if I started listing favorites. It struck me as odd.

Anyone compulsive enough to go back through the thread and post Kwerki's unofficial vote count...? 'Cause I'm curious, but I don't have the time just now.

I'd be willing to guess she's right up there with Freddy and DBJ...

Am I the only person here who finds it disturbing that Jesus and a transvestite are the top two most popular characters?
