I giggled, PMB. XD

Also, good for you, Van. Personally, I don't think that legalizing pot is going to make much of a difference; people are going to get their hands on it either way, it just means that if it's not criminal, the police can concentrate on other, more important things.

Go Van!

I think it should be legalized. It's no more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes (I know way more angry drunks than I do angry potheads). Busting pot dealers and smokers takes police effort away from more important (er, dangerous) crime, like murder and burglary and such.

If people can't handle it, that's their deal. If society keeps passing laws to regulate its people because of the stupids, pretty soon we won't be able to do anything.
And I like hanging out with my friends after they've gotten high. It's so easy to spook them!

Personally I don't smoke. Anything. At all. But I don't argue (much) with people who do - that's their choice and I won't interfere with it.

I got a bunch of those anti drug posters. I made a template a couple years ago and took requests from people. Hippo is my favorite

I know. I have a friend from the town I grew up in who smokes multiple times a day to, in her own words, "stay in her bubble".

I think it's sad when people use such means of escaping their reality. It's not like her life sucks either. She's just a stuck up self-proclaimed bitch who isn't happy with anything in her life simply because when she got older teachers and other authority figures wouldn't let her have her way.

I tried helping her at one point to tone down her habits, which also include pretty much every other drug under the sun, but as the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink".

When they feel the need to escape, people will use pretty much anything they can to get out of reality. It's sad when they get into something they can't get out of, and there's a lot of that sort of crap out there - Alcohol, gambling, drugs...

And it's usually the self-proclaimed tough guys or iron bitches who break first and have to find that escape.

That's exactly how I feel.

OBS: If marijuana were legalized, there wouldn't be illegal stuff to get. It'd really just be a matter of who you're buying it from. Pimpette's point which I agree with is that it'd direct police attention away from this pointless crap and onto something worth the time.

I think the point is that, on average, a few teens with a bit of pot pose less of a threat to Canadian society than other criminals. There were a lot of harmless potheads at my old high school, and a lot of more serious drug-users from whom attention was diverted by the potheads.

Just like how you can't get illegal booze, seeing how alcohol is legal.
Escushion wrote:It'd really just be a matter of who you're buying it from.
WINNAR!! Illegal alcohol is twice as potent and cheaper to get! Absinth costs $75CND for lousy, low-woodworm, 750ml bottle.

The same can be said of pot. The good stuff is illegal and the legal stuff sucks.
Escushion wrote:Pimpette's point which I agree with is that it'd direct police attention away from this pointless crap and onto something worth the time.
Not that it's the cops job to bust people breaking the law or anything.
Oh, now I see where the confusion's coming from.

I live in the States. ALL pot is illegal here. I'm saying, legalize ALL pot, and then it won't matter. It's not breaking the law if it's not against the law.

You don't need a special concentrated alcohol to die from it; just a lot of the regular stuff.

Well, being that the laws are rapidly going toward illegalizing tobacco, legalizing marijuana would be an interesting twist.

I am not against legalizing it but I wouldn't march and rally for it either. OBS has an arguement worth considering, that there's always a large population of people going for what's illegal just for the kicks of doing something illegal so, better marijuana than shoplifting. On the other hand, I think that the distinction between marijuana and harder drugs should be made clearer. Lot of older people I talked about clearly think that all the drugs are the same. Marijuana isn't any more mind-altering than alchocol (and though I'm not marijuana user, I like to get drunk occasionally and once in a blue moon smoke a cigarette or two) and it's just a matter of giving the substance to someone who can handle it.
Because there's nothing I hate to see more than a man who handles drink badly being drunk.

For the record, I never had a single useful creative moment while being drunk. When in company, I had a few interesting brainstorming session with friends, but nothing I'd decide to use later.

I have my own way of escaping reality. It's 'imagination.' :P

But yea, I'm a very clean person, I don't smoke or drink anything at all. I have nothing agaisnt people who smoke or do drugs, I just don't want to be around when they do it.

That's kind of how I feel. I don't like drinking to excess, and I have never smoked or done drugs, and I find it somewhat embarrassing being around people who do those things. (Although occasionally funny.)

Yeah, it kicks ass, and you don't have to light it on fire either to use it. :)

In fact, you really shouldn't. I lit my thumb on fire once. It wasn't a nice day.

I love explaining to people that the reason marijuana needs to be legalized is BECAUSE it's a gateway drug. No one seems to get that the only reason it's a gateway drug is because you can only get it at the same "stores" you get the hardcore stuff in. If it was legalized I think hardcore drug use would drop because of the ease of accessability of pot.

I also think it should be legalized because I REALLY want to see how the pot industry sells it. I wanna see ad wars between big name companies!

I've been around marijuana... practically on every concert I've been to. There's always a corner where that burning gum smell can be senced and people are sitting kind of apathetically... Unrelated to that, I've been offered marijuana on several occasions but refused because I don't wanna add another guilty pleasure to a list that is already long enough. But if you ask me whether I was ever in a company strictly formed to smoke a few... no I haven't been, on a few occasions I might've been, I was incidentally having work to do elsewhere.
I don't find myself uncomfortable around people who smoke marijuana. I learned that they are much less dangerous than drunk people. I do find myself uncomfortable around unknown drunk people. Those are siguations where I try to casually slide as far away as the situation allows me.

Ahh, once again, my perfect image of my older brother is (further) soiled! ;)

I'm not *nervous*, per se, around drunks and drug-users -- I've never been in the company of an angry drunk -- it's just that, eh, I suppose I feel embarrassed on their behalf. People (oneself included) seem much smarter and wittier in a state of inebriation.

So Keff, if you ever get a chance to see your older brother alive, drunk, don't worry, I am one of those careful drunks who measure every wort twice when they know they're drunk.
Plus, sober, I am just mcDuffies. Drunk, I am a chick magnet.
This post has been inspired by a girl who told me, when she finally got a chance to meet me sober, that it was dissapointing compared to image of me she had while I was drunk. Go figure.
