Woot, I got all my pages done earlier than I expected. I have put them all here in one post; let me know if there are any problems.

I've made a two-page entry which involves absolutely no copyrighted material, not even the site's URL ^_~

Page 1, high-res version
Page 2, high-res version

Page 1, small version
Page 2, small version

The small versions are direct links to images on ComicGen, so they may not show up properly.

The high-res ones were made to specifications; I'm a little worried about text bleeding into the gutters, so if you know how wide they ought to be, that would be reassuring ^_^

Regardless, enjoy!

~Erin

I try ^_^

The copyright restrictions probably made for a funnier joke than anything I would've come up with otherwise anyway ^_~

I'm coming in late on this. Is it too late to submit something, or should I wait for the next sampler?

This is over a week later, so I'll assume I need to wait til next time.

Feel free to submit. We only have 26 of the 27 pages, no lead in text and no covers. 5 of the 26 pages will be dropped if we get more submissions.

Here are two pages I've whipped up... the actual images are displayed at 1/3 the size of the required dimensions..

You realize these are going to be printed at 5"x7.5" (12.8x20.2 cm), don't you? Each of your comic blocks will be roughly 3"x3" and the text will be all but unreadable. I would suggest redoing your 2 pages into 4 pages and it should work pretty well.

Could you make a web sized version of that so we can take a look at it without downloading the large image?

I hasten to comply. Here's the link:

http://rangers.comicgenesis.com/images/ ... ampler.jpg

Quite honestly, I can't tell if it's there, due to some technobabble about referer strings (no one who knows what they are appears capable of explaining them to someone who doesn't). If you can't see it, I'll try a different format - or location.

You can't hotlink directly to your images directory. You need to make a page for it. Yarpsdat wrote a javascript for doing just what you're trying to do. It can be found here:

http://gear.comicgenesis.com/sourcecode/viewimage.html

The image looks good. You should include your ComicGen site on it and a copyright (copyright (C) your name).

Seems a klunky way to go about it. I've got a simpler way:

http://www.ntoonz.com/Rangers/RangersSampler.gif

And the original:

Still waiting on KeystoneX to submit changes to those pages. We will need covers and some kind of write up. Submissions aren't closed yet.

Okay, stupid question:

What's the difference between Generations and the sampler? At first I thought they were the same, but they look like they're being treated separately.

Can I get comparative specs on both?

  • FCBD
  • You pay for a spot.
  • Printing and distribution is covered by the printer.
  • Distribution is on a much wider scale.
  • Sampler
  • Free to submit to.
  • A PDF is distributed which can then be printed and distributed by anyone. It can be printed and sold at cons/comic stores/etc, traded to other people, burned to CD and sold, and so on.
  • Distribution is handled on a per person basis.
