Don't they just reverse the proccess that happens in the womb?
In the womb, everyone is conceived as female. Then the male chromosome comes along and changes the vagine into a penis. the ovaries become testicales, and the part of the vagine that excretes urine turns into the urine thing for the penis.

Don't they just reverse that by folding in the penis and tucking in the testicles?

Also, I once saw on a show about surgury (part of it was about penis enlargements, and how the fat used can cause lumpy erections), and a breakthrough in sex surgury had arrived. The fact that MTFs could actually have orgasms with their new vagina, by using the g-spot men have naturally in their arse. If i'm correct, they just move it to the appropiate new location.

okies starwind:

first off: the balls and the sack is removed. no futher use.. well they are sent to a lab to be examined.

the skin from the penis is carefully cut off and saved we will use this later. the eh thingies that swell up to cause an erection is discarded. the tip of the penis itself is cut down a tad, it will become the new clit so nerves are preserved as much as possible.

now a new cavity is created naturally. the previously cut of penis skin is turned inside out and used as the new vaginal walls. a rod is instred to prevent it from grothing together. then the new clit is attached. note it is a lot larget then it will be later, due to a) less chanse of rejection and b) it does tend to shrink and it is easier to trim it down afterwards.

then it is all wrapped up and allowed to heal.

a few weeks (usually 3 to 4) later the docs go back and trim the new clit and the lips are also formed. as well as some other minor adjustments.

I do remember seeing a Discovery channel program about the surgery I was just wondering if it was the same in other parts of the world as it was in the Phillipines where the program was filmed. Thanks for the info

It should be noted here that there are several different surgical procedures in practice, all over the world, to correct this problem, and many of them are photographically documented on the web.

Scrotal skin is often used to help form the labia. There are even one-stage procedures in use in some places, that create clitoral hooding and labia majora but even those require an additional secondary procedure to create really nice labia minora.

Other notes... Trachial shaving isn't always needed, particularly in some cases of intersexual complication or incomplete masculinization. Also, often, patients will have the breast augmentation done the same time the genitals are repaired. Also, as a matter of personal preference, of the girls I've had *ahem* experiences with, I prefer the procedures performed by Drs Menard (of Canada) or Metzler (of Arizona), but there are an awful lot of "styles" I haven't seen or tried yet.

as honor said. there are several different ways to do it...

my surgeon Dr Fredrik Huss wanted to do the boobs at the same time (he really wanted too in fact. the man seemed possitively boob obsessed) but my other doctor flat out said no on the grounds that after the balls are removed they usually go through another period of growth.

and honor, guess you have to visit sweden later to see how the results are here.. i mena.. just for sicence sake of course

It turns out that most guys won't notice a thing even in very problematic cases as long you are sexually functional. Most guys just don't look very close.

Once in the mood, very few men will let a few scars stop them. Even if they do notice, most men will deny it when asked. They know what such a question really means and what kind of hell there is to pay if the answer is negative.

(Personally, I'd still want to wait for a TF gun, or at least some sort of crysalis like (IIRC) The Culture uses... but then, my interest in the subject is purely a matter of curiosity. Still, I can picture the conversation:

"Hello, The Body Shoppe? I was thinking of a more high-performance body, and I was wonder how much I could get that model for if I got trade-in on my old one? Yes, I know about the gender differences, that's not a problem... and can I get a Martial Artist package to go with it?"

AIUI, The Culture doesn't use any kind of external technology for changing sex (I say sex rather than gender, because the concept of gender doesn't really apply very well to The Culture). When a member of The Culture has a strong determination (conscious or unconscious) to be physically the other sex than the one they are now, their body handles the change itself, growing, re-absorbing, and converting what it needs to. The process takes about a year, during which time the person is various shades of intersexed. When the change is complete, it's total (including reproductive capabilities), not cosmetic. Indeed, the ideal in The Culture is for each person to father one child and bear one child in his/her lifetime. Members of the culture are heavily bioengineered in many other ways, as well.

The Sharers in A Door Into Ocean use a chrysalis-like piece of biotechnology for major physical changes (like sex reassignment, though this is a special case as the Sharers are normally an all-female society). Maybe that's what you're remembering?

Those pictures really scare me!

Personally, the idea of having my penis removed scares the hell out of me. But, of course, my penis is my best friend.

But in a case of someone who doesn?t want to have a penis in the first place, I don?t think the operation would be so traumatic. I try to put myself into the mental frame of that person, and I guess for him it will me like removing a wart or something unwanted.

I found the site very interesting and instructive. Especially the pictures of the final result are very impressive. Those looks like real vaginas!

I had the impression that after these surgeries, the results were something that only crudely resembled the real thing in both looks and function. I guess I was wrong.
