I feel that rock revival and indy pop are slowly spending out, market is already saturated with many bands that sound all alike. That might mean that we can watch out for the next big thing. That being said, there are some cool blends that are doing some interesting things. What I find most interesting is currently the amount of bands that are taking old rock, and Country blends as a popular source of inspiration, all this new psychobilly, and straight up jazz fusion rock is amazing.
I like Beirut a lot right now, seems enough out of the synch with the rest of scene. It smells of "world music revival", which I wouldn't mind. I have a privilege of following new Serbian scene too, and seeing great new wave of bands breaking through recently.
Sounds interesting.Well we can look past the hardline bands. I think that the northern parts of Europe have always been where the hardline comes from. They reinvented metal, and practically birthed industrial from the hip-hop of the UK and france. But like you said there have been some amazing lo-fi bands, and pop bands coming out that have been mainly over looked. Aside from some of the disco stuff of the 70's and 80's. I have a dream that someday Joachim Witt and Leonard Cohen will do a project. throw in a little tom waits... and I think that it would be the best thing ever. ^_^
The funniest thing ever, was a Japanese hc metal band that sung in German, because they claimed that German is the best language for metal.
Eh, perhaps, if they were all her voices, but I smell of a bunch of probessional studio singers instead. Anyways, I'd give her some credit if she was capable of performing a good show, but according to her concert in Serbia, she was bland and unenergetic (yet "professional") and the sung something under an hour, which to my standards is too short for a solo concert.Of course for many of the female pop singers, they come from the land of acopella and they don't want to take away from the voice. They are signed on because of the voice. Just like actors who have that "face" time, the voice of the singers are supposed to be centered. Least as far as I know this is how it works. Personally i wish the producers would wise up and throw in some great synth, and get some top performers up there.
*shrug* didn't care much to look at it. Thought it was too kitchy, with all kinds of styles thrown together without much cohesion, so I didn't even get to look at arrangements.I I mean look at Timberlakes newest. its rocking the charts, and the synth and production of that album is top notch. I don't care for his voice very much but I've listened to a few tracks repeatedly cause the arrangements are amazing.
