Incidentally, a phone phreak is basically a script kiddie who targets phone systems instead of computers. They try to find tone sequences that will, for example, allow them to make calls for free, or in this case just cause mayhem. "Boxes" are basically phone hacks--in this case, hooking up a generator to a couple of wires at a phone line junction.<P>I dn't think that box would work, however. For one thing, voltage meters only measure voltage, they don't limit it, so "setting the meter to 1000V" doesn't mean jack. As well as the fact that phone lines have circuit breakers or some other voltage-limiting devices in case of a surge, meaning that while following those instructions would cause a lot of (rather expensive) damage, it wouldn't "take out an entire area code" like they claim. Approximately the same amount of damage could be caused by taking a fire axe to the junction instead of fiddling with a large generator and soldering some wires.<P>------------------
"Truth hides on the other side of a two-way mirror
In countless documents sent straight to the shredder
That might finally give us the whole of the picture
But until the day we decide to dig a little deeper
We know that truth will hide
Under fallen rocks and stones
At the end of a disconnected phone
Down an unmarked street
And buried, deep beneath your feet."
