Sipped a Jamesons-spiked shamrock shake while watching that on St. Patrick's Day a few years ago, like they did back in the old country.

Toy Story 3, the best ending to a trilogy ever. Yes even better than putting Connery in an Indy movie.

I saw Clash of the Titans at the second-run last night. It's funny that it wasn't faithful to the original, yet still managed to be just as cheesy. Overall, it was enjoyable b-level fantasy adventure fare, which is my favorite type of movie. Revisiting mythical subject matter always makes me want to make comics that adapt myths. I guess my summer's free to do so.

I watched both Clash of the Titans last night at the MWR. Yes, they showed the original and then the remake, back to back. It was interesting seeing the comparison, and I honestly liked the older one better. Perseus seemed to be so much more of a whiner in the new movie, whereas in the classic one he's a man's man: Perseus, the man who has done more than any man in history to get laid.

It looks quite cute, though if they wanted Rapunzel with a happy ending, not sure why they just didn't use Petrosinella.McDuffies wrote:I wonder if Tangled is gonna be any good.
Just saw the A-Team, it was awesome... the cargo ship scene was out of control (if a bit nightmarish). The cameos after the credits were a neat touch for us old-timey fans. Shame they didn't get Mr. T to make an appearance.

Tangled looked super cute. Seems to be a thief trend going around, but that may just be what I've been messing with recently (playing Assassin's Creed II, reading the Night Angel Trilogy.) Toy Story 3 was awesome, loved the ending and the junkyard scene.Risky wrote:It looks quite cute, though if they wanted Rapunzel with a happy ending, not sure why they just didn't use Petrosinella.McDuffies wrote:I wonder if Tangled is gonna be any good.

Re: So anyone seen some good movie recently?
OK, so I picked "Hard Candy" based on Netflix's recommendation, and from the relatively benign synopsis:
Wow. Talk about misdirection. Pretty freaky, though.Ellen Page (Juno) stars in this suspenseful drama from director David Slade as Hayley, an intelligent teen who's got her own reasons for spending so much time with Geoff (Patrick Wilson), a much older man she met online. Even though Geoff is a charming, good-looking photographer, Hayley should know better than to go home with a guy in his early thirties -- especially since he might have ulterior motives.

Re: So anyone seen some good movie recently?
Just saw "Green Zone", and it was really cool. Definitely a more accurate portrayal of how things were/are than "The Hurt Locker", and the underlying message was fantastic. A lot of what I saw matched up well with what I've read in books on how things were in the early days, especially the animosity between the military and the CPA/State Department. The complete disconnect that the higher echelons had from the situation on the ground, especially outside the Green Zone...very true.
I think Matt Damon did a really great job in the role of CW2 Miller, showing just the right balance of authority and emotionality while coming off as real professional. The character's passion for the mission, that he's a real good guy trying to do whats right, definitely shown through.
Similarly, the Iraqi actors...phenomenal. I was really struck by the performance they each gave, and I think they were all well selected.
Very good movie, definitely recommend.
