I vote it wasn't a rickroll - as everybody was pretty much expecting it, and a rickroll is only played on an unsuspecting victim.
Also, they don't work on my mother, who starts singing along, and genuinely enjoys getting rickrolled.

Yeah, I saw clips of that yesterday. Kinda funny for those of us who've known about the meme, but now it's like the "All your base" thing of a few years back.
I mean, it was one thing when Anonymous was rickrolling Scientology, but Cartoon Network pulling it on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade? I think it's definitely wearing out its welcome.
