Webcomic promotion with stumbleupon.com

Post by Tpiro »

Do you guys know about http://stumbleupon.com? I just learned about it. It allows users to rate websites they visit by clicking a "like" button that is part of the plug-in you can download. Popular websites are suggested to other users, so that you can potentially generate a lot of traffic this way.

It's pretty easy to install the plug-in and then start rating other webcomic sites. Then if you "like" your own website, you can generate a bunch of hits for yourself.

If anyone is interested, I would like to do a click exchange where we "like" each others comics so that we can collectively generate more traffic for ourselves.

Here is my comic, if anyone wants to "like" it:

http://astro.berkeley.edu/~tpiro/comics/

If you post to this thread and "like" my comic, I'll be sure to "like" you back! If you give a review I think it is even better, and I will of course reciprocate.

I've got the toolbar installed at home, and I'm heading out of here in a few minutes, so I will indeed reciprocate when I get there.

Edit: Like'd!

Yeah, I've done well by this...got a couple thousand referrals from it last month. I didn't even know what it was until I checked my logs and wondered where the hell all these hits were coming from.

Someone put my comic there once... but the site doesn't load for me, so I never got to look at it. Sounds like a neat idea, though. Spread the love!

You have been liked, and reviewed.
A man may fight for many things. His country, his friends, his principles, the glistening ear on the cheek of a golden child. But personally, I'd mud-wrestle my own mother for a ton of cash, an amusing clock and a sack of French porn.

I got plugged into the SU system by someone without my even signing up, and after I added a link back, yes, it shot my hit totals way way way up. Only for two or three days, but hey, still means this will be my best month ever in terms of visitors, and it appears a few of them even stuck around.

Couldn't bear to read the reviews, though.

It does seem to bring the visitors in, at least for a while! Hopefully a few do stick around.

Oh, let them have their eighteen and a half minutes of fame.
This webcomic, seen here is hosted on the free web host Comic Genesis which pretty much proves its not popular.
Oh noes! Read all about the tormented artist I am!
