The War of Winds: Brand-spankin'-new site design

Post by Warofwinds »

I decided I'd just reuse this thread since the pitching forum hasn't been getting much love recently. So...

As of today, there's been a major site update, including a new front page and updated site content. Check 'er out!

The War of Winds is an fantasy/adventure comic. It centers around the story of Talon, a thief who stole something he really shouldn't have, and all the people/creatures who want what he has. Of course, I, the all-mighty artist/storyteller, consider it much more than that, but that's what it has boiled down for the current chapter. CURRENT, mind you. This chapter is where it gets DEEP. We hope.

For those of you who think, "hey, this art looks nice!" or some such, but are put off by the archives (over 200 pages), I've created a handy-dandy GUIDE! Short summaries of each chapter with perty pictures! It leaves off at chapter 6, but seven just started, so now is the perfect time to jump on in!

Read, enjoy, and leave a couple comments!

As Sauron would say, "I SEE YOU!"

And as my links page says, "There, is talent, there is effort, and then there is a situation where one looks into the abyss and realises that one's power is nothing but a speck in the cosmos by comparison. I love War of Winds greatly!"

On that note, I find the story most compelling although I think you do tend towards self-narration far too much at times! I think someone else must have wondered about your speech bubbles, but it's a compromise between art and language and you are getting better at this.

I dunno about the guide, it's great, but sometimes I feel that lazy buggers should just read the whole thing, I've seen stories that would benefit from half the hand-holding you do...not that I'm complaining! The attention to detail that you add to just about anything you do is astounding and quite fascinating at the same time, it's a pleasure just reading updated bios or learning or randomly clicking buttons and reading the results.

Aww, thanks Redtech!^^ :shucks:

Yeah, I've REALLY been trying to end 99% of the self-narration, I had a relapse there for a page or two, but I'm tryin!

I feel the guide, while not necessary, isn't a BAD thing to have. It also serves as a nice refresher for those who need their memory jogged. But heck, I want people to just read the archives too! I am also very happy that you've been clicking around the site. I try to leave bread crumbs and hints and little details everywhere, 'cause that's what I love when I read stuff.

Robert Jordan, RIP. *cries*

Thanks again Redtech!

As for tWoW, I'm still jealous of the photoshoppin' ability. Your art has grown leaps and bounds since the beginning.

Thanks Chris!

D'you visit RJ's blog? There's news on what's going on with the last book of The Wheel of Time. I fall into despair every time I realize he's gone though. :(

Wow, the blog is very depressing, but still informative. Looks like we get to see an idea of what the end would have been after all

My old webcomic Insanity Please broke 250 pages, though the "artistic" "skill" put into all of them wouldnt equal one single page of this XD. Anyway it looks beautiful, and i may have a proper read through one day, too much Sexton Blake to plough through first though XD

Also the art reminds me a tiny bit of Disraeli, artist of War of the Worlds, Scarlet Traces, Stickleback etc etc, good stuff
I MAKE MANY COMICS / Some are on paper! / Used to have one on Keenspace too...

Thanks for taking a look, deathbringer! Unfortunately, the only Disraeli I know is Benjamin Disraeli, but the air in which you mention these other comics makes me thing the man of which is speak is one for which you have respect. So, I am flattered. Thanks! (and do read the archives when you get the change, eh? BWAH HAH HAH! :3 )
