You think that's bad, I live in a major metropolitan area (last I checked we were in the top 15 largest cities in America, but I'm not sure) and they keep fighting to remove public transportation. They cut bus routes as unecessary because there's another route that passes somewhere in the same zip code. The subway system only goes to 2-3 different places, and while convenient, is run too often for the usage and would be better put to taking people to locations that they actually want to go. Oh, and we've got these lovely inclines that ferry someone from the bottom of a the mountain to the top, but it's not a very big mountain and people can drive up the side if they'd just go a mile down the road.

What's barbaric is that even though they're doing all of this, they want to constantly raise fares and get government support because the system is too expensive. But hey, that's our tax dollars at work.

Ugh ... Personally, I'd prefer to see the government slam a heavier tax on the cars of the wealthy than on public transport. I mean, there are supposed music stars putting down millions for grotesqueries of cars. Share the pain, people ...

A ten-minute charge time for an electric vehicle that can go 350 miles on a single charge and drives up to 155mph? Sounds good to me. I think that's worth the $25k price.

you could live in the vicious cycle of metro detroit's vanishing public transit. The communities keep voting to stop supporting it, usually as they don't feel it's convienent as it doesn't go where they want to go, so more routes get cut, and it becomes less convienent to other communities as well. Closest bus stop for me is four miles from my apartment. Unfortunately it's the only form of transportation I can afford these days.

Rats, I had a chance to marry Honor and missed it.

No, I kinda dislike the kiwi color (it reminds me of certain colors of vomit) although I could've lived with it if that was all they had; I wasn't particular about the color, to be honest. I was just so fucking glad they got a hybrid in that it could've been banana yellow and I would've been happy!

To understand that sentiment, you have to realize that, when I first contacted the dealership through USAA (this was the Ford dealership where I live which had negotiated a set price with them; any other dealership I would've paid about two to three thousand more) they didn't have a hybrid at all. I was, as you can imagine, extremely disappointed; I was so set on getting this car, and then they tell me they probably won't be getting one at that dealership! I was debating in my head whether I should go to the Toyota Highlander hybrid or try to contact one of the other Ford dealerships in my area and risk the higher price, when out of the blue last Friday the dealership called ME and told me they'd just gotten one in! Needless to say I shot out there as soon as I could, and thankfully it had ALL the options I wanted, plus a few I hadn't thought of, and so I snapped it up. I was ECSTATIC. And so far I LOVE THIS CAR. It handles very well; I'm still getting used to it, so any mistakes are on me, but it corrects for any mistakes I make very swiftly. Plus, I was able to put so much down on it that my payments will only be $528 a month for 60 months, with the option of paying it off earlier if I can get the money. I only owe 26,400 some on the car since I was able to put about 9,000 down (I'd been saving up money), and I had about a thousand cash back and five hundred for my trade-in.

And I'm rambling... so I shall shut up. *G* But to answer the color question, it's a color called tungsten gray metallic.

There's a Loudoun County bus that travels between cities, but it only has about 5 or 6 total places you can go on it. And the nearest stop is across the highway (and quite a few streets away) from me. I live in a suburban neighborhood, most half decent places are within walking distance at least. Nothing spectacular around here though.

Congrats BriHahn! (Hope i spelled that correctly) ~smiling~ How very exciting!

i pedaled my buns off to work and back for about a year ("just down the block" as explained by a native Coloradan turned out to be a little over five miles) before i purchased a scooter. Lovely bit of economy there. i paid three dollars every two weeks to fill the tank with premium unleaded. What's more, no motorcycle license or insurance was required. You can also ride well into winter provided you have the appropriate gear (i looked a bit like the Michelin man but black, it's slimming). Of course, i did later find out the hard way that scooters are not the least bit road-worthy under icy conditions. ~shrugging and laughing at her brain spasm, rubbing her butt too, ghost pains~
