Problems, problems, problems

Post by Salyavin »

I'm having a problem with my site you know the link in the site admin that says last update well that one has been showing another site design then my actual site and now it seems that when my last page updated the site design for the previous one changed in to the one shown in the last update link, any idea to what could've happened? Oh and by the way when I click the last update link now it shows the original mainpage you get automatically through Comic Genesis so I think that my site design is going to change again soon

Sorry I was a bit mad and stressed out when I wrote that what I was trying to say was basically that whenever my site updates with a new page the site design on the previous page seem to mysteriously either revert back to the basic site design you get when you join comic genesis or change in to another version somewhere in between the site design I'm using right now and the basic one, and that I for some reason can see how It's going to revert by checking the last update link in my siteadmin.

Since you only seem to have three pages on your site so far I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The next time your comic updates, it should re-build the first page again.

If it doesn't then go to siteadmin and trigger a Full Update.

So long as you have indextemplate.html and dailytemplate.html in the workspace folder, then all your comics should look ok.

It sounds to me like you're confusing your indextemplate.html and your dailytemplate.html.

Only your most recent page will be displayed with the site design code on your indextemplate.html page. All of your old pages will be displayed with the dailytemplate.html code. Therefore, if you have your new nice code on your indextemplate, but your dailytemplate still has the code it came with when you joined CG, every time a page moves into your archives, it will 'revert' to the old code.

So check your dailytemplate code and make sure it looks the way you want it to.

Yeah I was suspecting that myself, problem is that right now I can't access my dailytemplate, but I think I can fix that.

Okay, that's a good start. The dailytemplate code you want should be in your 'workspace' folder. You can click on it there and probably just drag it to your desktop. (That's how it works for me, anyway.) Otherwise try right-clicking and seeing if that gives you the option to download it.

As a reminder Salyavin, please use subject lines that describe the problem you are experiencing - this helps both the people who are looking to assist someone with a problem, and others who might have the same problem you do.
