is it possible to change my comicgenesis URL to a domain name I've bought and retain CG as my host?

Yes. Check out the instructions at http://cgwiki.comicgenesis.com/index.php/Domain_Names then send a message to Kisai or StrRedWolf. Be patient. With all the server problems of late they may not get to it right away.
