KeenSwim
So- KeenSwim has existed in the past, but was skipped last year. Because I like stuff that brings everybody together as a community of artists, I'm offering to head up organizing KeenSwim, if no one else has done so yet.
Basically what I'm looking for is, has anyone volunteered to organize things, and admins, if no, what do I need to do to get the ball rolling?
Edit: Adding pertinent information to the TOP of this thread as it comes up. Changed the date slightly. As the 1st is a Sunday, which is not a super awesome day for readership.
1. I'm thinking of setting the ABSOLUTE final deadline for submissions to be July 31st, and pictures would start going up on JULY 2nd, just in time for the dog days of summer.
2. Images can be sent to keenswim (at) geekblather.com
3. What I need from y'all:
- The image, in an attachment. Try and keep the file size web-friendly for all the dial-up folks. (I'm not one, but I know they're out there. And they like comics too.)
- Your email address So that I can let you know that yes, I have your image and if any questions arise.
-The name of your comic
- A link to your comic. Cross promotion, yeah? Doesn't work without a link.
-If you have any screen name that you would rather go by than your real name. Otherwise I'll just use whatever tagline I find on your comic page.

Make art! That's what!
I have an email address set up for keenswim (at) geekblather.com
I'll keep people posted with what I find out. And Yeaduff said I could claim to be more organized than Keenlace, but, really, I think there were just a ton of submissions this year, so it's been a lot to organize.

I will definitely help out however you need. Just drop me a PM and ask for whatever.
I would say that once an opening day is selected you date the first submission with that date, load it and forget it. As each one comes in, add it to the updater. When the day of opening is there, all the work is done and you can sit back and enjoy the compliments of your peers for a job well done. And you won't have to stress about it should your life get overly busy.
I also recommend working with a second and maybe third person on the project including giving them the password to the site. That way if your life gets just too busy you can tag your partners to come in and take up the slack.
Here are some sites that might be of interest.

That's basically what I was thinking. So that it updates, you know, like a comic does. As that is much much simpler.I would say that once an opening day is selected you date the first submission with that date, load it and forget it. As each one comes in, add it to the updater. By the way Geekblather, I just read through your archives. You have a great comic and the extras are really different and neat.

I remember this one. It's one of the things I actually participated in back then.
Once you let us know when you're thinking about having it all put together, the date for submissions and what not, yeah, I reckon it's about time the kids got back to the beach again.
Or maybe the creek down the bottom of the hill.

I'm the one that did KeenSwim in '05, and you can use the old site if you want (PM me and I'll give you the password). I haven't touched it in two years, so feel free to do whatever you want with the webspace; I have backups of the pictures from '05, too, in case they get lost somehow.

Aw, thank you. The extras are clearly evidence that I have uh... some time on my hands. There are also more paper dolls, and possibly an animated music video showing up on that page later on.Sasjhwa wrote:By the way Geekblather, I just read through your archives. I'm totally flooding this with love and chatgirls. MWAHAHAHA.
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

Yaay helper monkeys! I mean- yaay helpers...
...
No monkeys.
Okay, maybe monkeys.
Right- helping!
I have a task for someone who would like to help out. That thing is to create a newsbox image/gif for KeenSwim. Hopefully with something clever and pithy being said, or just- you know- boobies, telling people that the party starts on August 1st, so to get their submissions in/come check it out.
