The second heal check was an in game excuse to notice the disease itself and estimate the amount of wounds healed by the spell. Most of the time when you heal someone they can tell you "oh yeah! I feel great now!" or "Um, can I get some more magic? My leg REALLY hurts still!"

Also, I wanted to make absolutely sure I knew the rats were diseased in game. If Korgan didn't verify the fever then he'd probably be making fun of Jacob later for being a whiny pansy.

ANYWAY...so another weird squeaking huh?
Guess I should open the door and kill the giant rubber ducky that's coming for us.

Oh. Well, I'm pretty sure he has Filth Fever and that heal check would have noticed it and given a rough idea of how much he was healed.

Nooot a rubber ducky!

Yes, I have Filth fever, still waiting for the roll for incubation time, though (1d3 days if I recall - I'm seperated from my books my many nautical miles). Luckily, its a Dex-affecting disease and I have alot of Dex.

Not so lucily, I USE alot of Dex, especially for my AC.

Rolls to come later (read, after we pull into port , which also reads very soon)- unless someone wants to make them for me!
(INT: +3)
(WIS: +2 - there is a reason I'm considering multiclassing to Cleric!)

Editing the the BBCode in my last will come at about the same time as the rolls.

Rubber Duckies are immune to Sneak Attack - phooey!

I read that Tom is giving everyone a chance to act before he opens the door.
Updates from me later on today.

Sorry about the sparse nature of my posts lately. I've got 9 finals in 10 days starting Thursday, so I've been overly engaged. I'm trying though!

The poor bard, being driven rather rapidly mad by whatever odd and obscure things lay beyond the door. Should be interesting though. I'm going to take lunch to decide what exactly he thinks it is and an appropriate response. I'll post shortly!

Good news: It happened! Yay! Time to kick some sort of fleshy thing's but!

Bad news:
5 damage - including the Sneak Attack bonus ... and is it even fleshy at all?

Man... a nat 1 on init.
Narf, you'r the DM. Does that mean I just plain don't act in the first round? I've played in games where a nat one put you at the end of initiative AND lost you your first action.

In other new, clever buggers. Now we know what that squeak was! Unoiled metal.

I havn't been using critical failure rules so far and the middle of an adventure is not the place to start. I may introduce them when we have our first town interlude, but I'd want some guidelines first - Just 'doing whatever' seems a little too abuseable to me.

Why not use that 18?

It was originally a drill, but I didn't think rats would have the nessasary strength to drill through a door.

Simon - 08x25
Jakob - 08x26
Aeron - 08x28
Rowan - 10x27
Terra was eaten by the QIS
Ellimist was eaten by the QIS
Dareth was eaten by the QIS
Elena was eaten by the QIS

Everyone who isn't in the QIS box has posted.

Said the pieman to Simple Simon "Show me first your penny."
Said Simple Simon to the pieman "Sir, I have not any!"

Right, then.

The QIS box is now level 2, with +200 XP.

What power should it gain?

How about the ability to manifest a ghostly image of a bottomless void that threatens any character whose player doesn't post for a couple of days? ^,^

QIS - level two is a "Dead level" - it just gains BAB and saves.
