Domain parking & DNS

Post by Azual »

Ideally, what I'm wanting to do is move my comic (cursed.comicgenesis.com) to a new domain name (cursedcomics.com) which I already own. Following the instructions in the Wiki, I've changed the nameservers to ns3.keenspace.com and ns4.keenspace.com.

I've been told I need to wait for the DNS to clear, at which point I should get a 403 error when I try to access the domain, before It can be parked on the comicgenesis servers.

The estimate for this everywhere I've seen it has been 24-48 hours. It's been about two weeks since I changed the nameservers and there's been no change that I can see (I've tried viewing the domain in both firefox and IE in case it was a browser issue, but in both I just get a variation on the same 'can't find the domain' kind of thing - the same page as I would get if I typed in a random non-existent URL, with the exception that it takes about a minute to reach the page, wheras a non-exitent URL comes up with it almost instantly. No idea if this is relevant, but I figure any information might be useful).

Is this the result of the DNS problems mentioned in the bug thread? (there's been no update on the situation since november, although questions have been asked, and I havn't been here long enough to know what's going on with that). If so, does this mean I can't change my domain at the moment?

If not, does anyone know why it doesn't seem to be clearing? Is there any way to solve the problem?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can clarify this for me.

(PS If it's relevant to the issue, I bought the domain name from godaddy).

I know it took a long time for mine to finally work through everything and get connected to my site; I got mine through godaddy too. If you've got the DNS set up correctly, it seems like the only remedy is to wait.
