Trading links
I feel like I’ve been drawing long enough to start trading links with other webcomic artist’s sites. According to my “Summery by Month” chart, I averaged 4575 hits in the month of Jan.
Please give my comic a little look-see, and if you’re interested in trading links please hit me up.

The stat you want to look at is visits, your unique hits in a day, not counting reloads and people who come back to the site later in the day and such. That gives you a more accurate idea of how many people visit your site. Also, someone more in the know than me will probably say this doesn't belong here.
Still, welcome aboard!

My chart
Ok here’s what my chart looks like. What should I be looking at?

I didn’t put this in “Comic Pitch” because I’m not pitching the comic, I’m trying to link it with other artist’s sites. Why does it matter so much where I put it? Can I be banded from the form for not putting it in the right place? Am I offending anyone? If so is there a way I can move the thread?

Offers of link trading is more of a "sales pitch" for your comic since the idea is links lead to visitors so I think this thread should go under "Comic Pitching."
(In the meantime, until someone with Moderator Powers comes along to move this) the relevant statistic is "visits." Somebody comes to your site, pokes around a bit, and then leaves. That's one visit (IIUC). "Hits" would include every time their browser made a request from your site during that visit.

I’m sorry to have bothered you guys
That puts a bit of a damper on my excitement. Only seven visitors in a month is certainly nothing to brag about. Knowing this I don’t think anyone will want to trade links now. I’m sorry to have bothered you guys. I’ll keep drawing and updating, and maybe one day I can try this again (under Comic Pitching the next time).

Re: My chart
If it needs to be moved, one of the moderators or admins will do so. And nah, you won't be banned for putting it here if it doesn't go. We've just always had some controversy over what does and doesn't go here in GD is all. There's actually a thread about it here.Sharkfin wrote: I didn’t put this in “Comic Pitch” because I’m not pitching the comic, I’m trying to link it with other artist’s sites. That's seven hits a day. Your total for January (as of the time the stat was generated) was 218.Sharkfin wrote:That puts a bit of a damper on my excitement. But, as I said, I'll take a look at your comic. If I like it and want to continue reading it, I'll link it. That, after all, is what I use my links page for--"one stop shopping" for comics I read (or have read). I find it more convenient than bookmarks.

Re: I’m sorry to have bothered you guys
Well really, links would help out there...the more people you have linked to you, the more readers you'll get...then eventually less popular comics will want to be linked on your site! And don't get too upset over the reader stats...it generally takes a long time to build up a decent readership...hang in there!Sharkfin wrote:That puts a bit of a damper on my excitement. Thing for you, Sharkfin, right now is that it's a little too early for "I'll link you if you link me" to be a very appealing offer. I'd suggest instead hanging around the forum with a link in your signature, and drawing stuff for other people whenever you can: fan art or guest comics. Do that and it's basically like getting links for free.
