I’ve been running my comic The Peace Keepers Force for about two years now and I’m finally in a place in the comic where I’m proud enough of it that I’d like to really start advertising. But there are a few things that I’d like to get fixed up first:
First, if you look at the top of my front page you’ll see neat little image links that will direct you to various parts of my site…but when you go to a deeper part of the comic, such as here they disappear…now I KNOW that the code is the same and that they vanish through no fault of my own…how do I know this? I loaded up the index page into the same folder as the picture HTMLs (or any other folder for that mater) and the little pictures just vanished…even though I didn’t change the code at all.
So does anyone know a work around for this? Or should I just abandon my little pictures and set up plain old links on the parts of the site that are in folders? I guess it’s not a BIG deal…but it does kind of put a crimp in the sight look. I put them in the folders for organization’s sake (I’m a computer neat freak…you wouldn’t tell from my apartment though…)
The next question I have is more of an opinion, rather than fact. I was thinking of ways to get my name out, among the ideas I had were paying for ad space on other, big name, comics. I was wondering if it was frowned upon if you advertise on a large site if you’re hosted on Comicgenesis? Does Comicgen care? If I have to go and find my own hosting…where would the best place be (or where do you think the best place is)?
Do you guys have any advice on how to get my comic known? I would really like to get more readers…I love working on my comic and think that I have something that people would really like (I know, me and every other person on the interwebs) and want to at least give it a go at seeing what people think.

The problem is that your coding for the images on the deeper pages is looking for a folder that does not exist. Add "../" to the start of each image tag, to tell it to look up to the main directory first and then for the images folder, and they should work just fine for you. ^_^
I'll admit I don't know for sure about buying ad space (though I will admit I did it a few months ago, but it's since expired). I did get a fair number of hits through that, though I'm not sure how many stayed. Likewise, I'm getting a lot in this month because of having a vote avatar in rotation on Topwebcomics. I also do subtle advertising in the form of signatures in different forums, and have gotten hits back from those too. I'm definately not a promotions expert, though; I don't get massive daily hits by any means.
I didn't look, but if you don't have it together, put some work into your wiki too. I get a good number of hits from there lately too.

If you're thinking of paying for advertising, you may want to give this threada look-see.
