Wal-Mart Madness

Post by Backstep »

My first job was in retail. I remember the stresses placed on my boss to deal with employees who were lazy or hung-over or unmotivated, or any combination of the above. I worked with people who were barely into their teenage years and people who were so far beyond retirement age it was just sad. We had Saturdays when no one was coming in and then suddenly at 3PM we were overwhelmed.

How can Wal-Mart expect its employees by and large to be that on top of things? How can it expect managers to cope?

I know it was the setup for the gag, but as far as I'm concerned, Wal-mart is second only to McDonald's in setting up consumer expectations that aren't met. And something like this just makes it worse. Just my 2 cents.

Good gag, by the way. :)
