new year resolutions 2007

Post by Grabmygoblin »

how'd you do last year? if you didn't do well, you still have a couple weeks to work on it.

this year's resolutions are the same for me as last year:
get a girl, be able to look back and remember accomplishments, and be happy.

I did manage my time better. I guess.

I guess a good one is to take it easy when running so I don't wreck my knee again.

Eh, I don't really do resolutions, but this year, I have some:

- stop wasting so much time on the internet (especially forums!)
- write/illustrate a children's book and try to get it published
- in general, focus more on my goals
- get more freelance illustration work
- go to Ireland for vacation
- see a gynaecologist
- stop wasting time
- focus
- focus
- FOCUS!

In 2007, you'll hopefully see a lot less of me around here, fingers crossed. I really can't afford to get so sidetracked from my important projects all the time. This is time I'll never get back. :(

For the last three years, I've resolved to read a certain number of books by the following new year. This past year, the number was 35, the most I've attempted so far. I'm about 1/4 of the way through #35 as I write this (not bad, although in the two previous years, I was able to surpass my goals of 25 and 30 by at least three books.) This year I think I'll shoot for 40, and I'll start keeping a tally of the graphic novels and books on tape that I read/listen to in between books as well.

What a coincidence: my new year's resolution is to become a gynecologist.

No I'm not trying to be kinky, I'm trying to get into med school so I can be an OBGYN. (More for the OB than the GYN 'though. People like obstetricians.)

Although I guess I should make my new years resolution a little more immediate: to continue to work towards my eventual goal of entering and completing med school.

Psst... If you send me a picture of yourself after you've become one, I can technically check it off my list. :shifty:

Hah, you don't know which month I'm coming, Rusty.

That reminds me. I guess I should stop being so hateful. But better still, everyone else should stop sucking first. Then I wouldn't be so angry all the time.

But being angry all the time can be hilarious if you know how to focus it into a beam of hatred.

For me, my resolution is to get into the character animation department at CalArts. But that's as likely as a pig flying, since their admissions standards are way beyond what I can do.

-Get more volunteer work in my field, or, better but less likely, get a real job in the English department (I have some leads and a mentor who wants to help, but if nothing's available...)
-Use this work to help me figure out a direction for my graduate studies
-Get my act together and apply for overseas studies, even if only during the summer
-Get more exercise
-Keep going with the comic
-Be more social

I don't think the last two are compatible. XD

I don't think I did this last year, so oh well.

--Get my scholarship back.
--Update my comic regularly.
--Improve my art skills more.
--Gain a tougher skin.
--Get over my cyber addiction.
--Keep a job for more than 3 months.
--Save up at least $500 for the cookout
--GO to the cookout.
--Improve my wardrobe.
--Go out more.
--Learn to cook.
--Exercise 3 times a week.

Hmm. I think that's it for now.

Hmn. I do not make new year's resolutions, as a rule... But I will finish my comic this coming year, so you can count that as resolve.

And if I'm making one, I might as well make another: Atone, somehow, to various people on these forums. Which, I think, will require that I be less sucky.
