The story, I agreee, is kind of... I dunno, silly. But that kind of makes sense when you look at MT's history. The thing stared as a humorous gamer comic, written by Gallagher's friend. After his friend stopped writing, however, Gallagher took over. While his friend may have been gamer, Fred's idea of a good time is reading shoujo m4nga and playing japanese dating sims. Plus, before MT started, he was working on a shoujo project called "Warmth."Cookie wrote:You know, if you put it that way, it explains why I want to bat them all over the head!Mercury Hat wrote:His backgrounds ARE good, but his people are all ping-pong ball heads.
And we haven't even started talking about the story/writing...
Unfortunately for Fred, MT had become relly popular, so he couldn't drop it without a general uproar. He wanted to write serious stuff, so he tried to build on the basic plot with his own stuff.
But that didn't work out the best. In fact, the only person I can think of who's managed to turn a humor strip into a dramatic comic well is David Willis of "It's walky!" fame.
NOTE: I am not an obsessive MT fan. the only reason I know this stuff is because my browser used to run MT's site really slowly. The only thing I had to do when the comic loaded was read the rants.
