kinda makes you wonder how exsactly she got this
"when trouble comes it's everyone for them selves"
type of mentality?
either way i hope the questor can help change that view?

Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

There are a couple of thing sthat I found interesting about this strip:
A. Looks like Quentyn learned that spell the Frog Mage used in the Dire Swamp to get the mud off Quentyn. Nice to see a nod back to the beginning of things.
B. The girl (or elf, if you prefer) has heard of Quentyn's species and she also remebered the sterotype that they had. She mispronounces it, but still its interesting to note that at least someone remembers the Rac'Conan Daimh.
C. It took me several tries to try and read what the girl was saying. She should learn not to talk with her mouth full.
D. The girl has had previous experience running away from a large, angry group of people.
E. Solidus was making a 'Back To The Future 2' referance for those who are wondering.
F. I like lettered lists, so there!

I think its something like...
"We had humans were coming to get us.
When they come after you, its what you are suppsed to do."

Yeah, I think that's what she said, too.
Hmm, so when humans come after you, you stab your fellow in the back and then run? Well, I guess if you're gonna stab someone in the back, it ought to be when some big nasty things will take care of him for ya.
LOVELY morality there... /sarcasm
Ah, well, as usual, I'm eagerly anticipating more.
Brilliant stuff.

I think what she meant is that, when a large group of angry people are coming after you, is to grab everything you can and run like the dickens. What I do not like is that she took something that did not belong to her, especially after he released her.

I think that usually when a 'large group of humans' are coming after you, it's because you were already grabbing stuff that didn't belong to you.
the mentality of 'grab what you can and get gone faster then a puff of smoke in a hurricane' is probably pretty good advice if you're living the life of a snatch and grab thief on the run.

Hmm, It looks like little 'black bander' Quentin is finding out first hand that in the kingdom of the blind the one eyed man is king. The elf (are we EVER going to get her name?) sure seemed impressed/intimidated by what to Quentin are minor lux skills. Probably helped by his firestarter entrance, which could make the elf think "The next time I try to burn him, he can burn me for real."
Of course some humans have both eyes for lux, and there are blind out there that see someone with just one eye as a threat...

No, I think you're missing a subtle point.
Quentyn was asking "Why did you try to steal my backpack?"
She answered "Why did you run away?"
In other words, the theft doesn't even register on her.
Apparently, the concept of not taking something that doesn't belong to us is not in her mentality.
She's make a good liberal.

Seeing what the elf-girl said....Im curious if maybe it is custom for her people to grab everything in site before they run, so the GROUP doesn't lose anything from being pursued.
(Pack mentality, everyone grabs something and runs)
Maybe she assumed that Quentyn was "with her" without it being mentioned.

She said that when the humans started going after Quentyn, what was she supposed to do?
Maybe she wasn't stealing his backpack so much as she was taking it so that the humans wouldn't get it if Quentyn happened to be captured. Also they were chasing him, so it helps his chances to get away if he isn't encumbered by his backpack.
Not knowing the customs of her kind, I can only guess that it would be returned to him once they regrouped away from the threat.

Take what you can while you can, if thats culter wide than it reflects how tough the elves have had it, being driven from homes for example being commonplace.

Hm... "grab what you can and run" is a valuable piece of information when you're living outside "society" and its rules anyway. Just not that useful when facing a Rac'Cona Daimh.

I'm reminded of the old joke...
"I don't have to run faster than the bear - I just have to run faster than YOU!"
Lot of herd animals do the same when attacked by a predator. They abandon the weakest/slowest member of the herd as a deliberate sacrifice. The predators stop to have a quick snack, and the herd (as a whole) is able to escape.

Don't need to. She said that they had accused her of stealing. Whether she did or not hasn't been revealed yet.maxgoof wrote:She was caught stealing. She admitted it. Well, if she did not realize it was stealing, then she has a very amoral view of the world.
Perfect for a liberal.

It's possible. All we really know right now is that she was captured, caged and accused of theft. It could be true, we don't have proof other than her grabbing Quentyn's backpack and that may be in question.maxgoof wrote:Well, if she did not realize it was stealing, then she has a very amoral view of the world.
