Domain Park Request

Post by Lando »

Hello I registered http://www.Back2roxboro.com and need to know what to do now. I read that I can have the domain parked and pointed to my current comic back2roxboro.comicgenesis.com but do I need to do anything else? I hope this is the right place to ask.

I was wondering the same thing. I have http://www.labbratz.com , and I wasn't sure if I should point that here or point this one there? And how to do it.

Thanks,

Ed

More fun than you should ever have in a laboratory. We are not related to the Bratz toy line owned by MGA.

Here is what the wiki says about that situation. No clue if it's up to date, I don't understand half of what it says.

The technobabble on that page just tells what the admins do and what your domain might do just after it's set up. The domain isn't completely set up until it propagates, but that doesn't take long, it's just to make sure everyone everywhere, no matter the ISP can get to your CGen site via your new domain. Once it's propagated, you'll get that "Not Found" error when you try to use the new domain, and then it's okay to switch over to it in siteadmin and start plugging it all over the place.

Looking in the new siteadmin, the domain option doesn't seem to be there that I can find. You'll have to use the old one at siteadmin.comicgenesis.com:8080 and use the "edit URL option" there.

Have you PMed an admin and let them do thier thing? You shouldn't try and use the domain until you're sure it's set up right. Once that's done, just hit "use" under the domain and run a full update.

DO NOT USE SITEADMIN:8080 TO CHANGE TO YOUR THIRD-PARTY DOMAIN!
That is broken and will be removed.

The process of parking a domain with us is thus:
  1. At the domain registar, change your domain's DNS servers to NS3.KEENSPACE.COM and NS4.KEENSPACE.COM.
  2. PM ether me or Kisai with your Comic Username or .comicgenesis.com URL and the domain you want your comic on.
We will switch it at the server level, which will take 5 minutes for us to do, and 2 days to clear both our servers and the rest of the world.

Step 3: Draw thank you fanart for whichever admin does the dirty work behind the scenes for you. It's pretty much traditional.

Crossfire: "Thank you! That explains it very nicely, and in a language that someone other than a physicist can understand..."

Please note that when you give us the domain info, your comic will be auto-switched to that domain. There is no need to switch it yourself.

And Merc: Fixed the entry again to reflect that.

Thank you very much everyone! ^^ the new domain is working perfectly. And it seems that most DNS servers have picked up on the change already! Thank you again.
