A reply from something from like a billion years ago:

Or, was. Then I just got used to having face fuzz. And I still /appear/ that way, especially now that I'm having to grow it back.
When I DID have a beard though, it was scary, even past the pubes stage (if you consider it past the pubes stage)--like a caveman that will eat your children or something (which is probably why I haven't gotten laid).
As far as beards lookin' good in general, I have no clue. Umm, but what about sideburns? My brother seems to think they're wicked cool if done right (like, long and straight down, like what Dave Grohl had going on in the "All My Life" music video, if you've seen that), but he also swears that like every girl he's ever asked about it has said that sideburns are a major turn-off. Thoughts?

I think, how it works is that a person is only allowed to have a certain amount of hair around their face at any given time. A lot of people don't consider that your hairstyle is important when picking a style for facial hair. For example, if you have long hair, you probably shouldn't be growing much of a beard because then it just makes you look shaggy. But if you have short hair, it can give you some leway. Also, sideburns make me think '60's hippie' so I'm personally biased against the style. But maybe my thought on it is not so uncommon. (Just so you know, I hate hippies. -_-)jesusabdullah wrote: As far as beards lookin' good in general, I have no clue. Umm, but what about sideburns? One thing to consider as well is that just because men think something looks cool doesn't mean women will either. It still amazes me to the lengths men will go to in order to impress each other, but are so afraid to do simple things women ask them to do because their afraid of looking weak in front of their male friends. Even more ironicly, from what I've seen, it's the exact opposite for gay men. You always hear that silly line in shows and movies where the two lonely women say "The best guys are always taken, or gay." I think it's just ironic that the demographic looking for female companionship is least likely to bother trying to impress anyone but themselves.

Facial hair is ok if you don't let it grow too long. I have a little chin hair, but I had to trim it down after it got so long it started sticking out and making little hair hills and looked horrible.
And I like having stubble. It looks pretty cool and it buys me more time before I have to shave.
And I'm in the same boat with Lego. I could grow a handlebar mustache and it wouldn't change my girl situation one bit.

...so... does this mean we need to find women that aren't intimidated by our good looks? Or...what?
