Or he could have done it because it looks cool, and that one images gives the audience an idea of what to expect of the world outside the mistwall without spending a dozen strips or huge blocks of text explaining it. I'll go out on a limb and speculate that it says a couple more things.Nikas_Zekeval wrote:Or he could have done it because it looks cool, and that one images gives the audience an idea of what to expect of the world outside the mistwall without spending a dozen strips or huge blocks of text explaining it. A) Gunpowder is not commonly used for weapons. (It may not even be available to those Outside, but that's a different issue.) Why? Because on Earth, once even the early muskets became available in quantity, armor stopped being an effective protection.
B) Magic is rare. Considering the potential for tossing electricity or heating metal, I'll apply the same logic as in "A" and say storming a wizard's stronghold while covered in metal is a good way to get targeted.

I can't think up anything to add.
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. - attributed to Samuel Adams

Well, of course. It was the medieval equivalent of bringing a gun to a knife fight.TMLutas wrote:Crossbows were considered disreputable weapons and no knight would be caught dead with one of them. Ah, so they had useful idiots back then, as well. *Shakes head* "Hey, that gives you an unfair advantage! How dare you be better than I!"JakeWasHere wrote:Well, of course. Still, they DO have bowmen, possibly longbowmen. The latter'll be nasty to face off against.
I really don't care anymore.
