I think there's a name you've all forgotten.

The name of a noble ship, one that rightly deserves to live on throughout history, a ship captained by a man who'll live in legend and song for as long as there are ships.
To sail on a dream on a crystal clear ocean
To ride on the crest of a wild raging storm
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand...
He was a noble man, and it was a noble ship.

Call Quentyn's ship the Calypso.

Heart of Gold
It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. - attributed to Samuel Adams

That presumes the Rac Conan know of the word.

I'm a fan of the White Stag suggestion.

But I'd also put forth the name, The Forelock.

Me too. That struck me as perfect when I saw it in a previous message. It fits Quentyn's world, not something from our world.

Yeah. Too many of the names are famous -here-, not -there-. Have to fit what he's doing.

White Stag
Freedom Downs
Quest
Debt of Honor
Free Trader
Skydancer

I don't think they'd give the ship a really pretentious name like "Enterprise", "Endeavor" or "Invincible" - at the end of things, it's a private contractor setting out on a gathering mission, not the launch of a great fleet of explorers. I think appropriate names for the situation would be either something purpose-bound or something whimsical.

So, in that light:

Retriever
Freeman
Quest
Sky High
Little Big Killer

Also, I'd really like to second "Rillcreek's Dream" - it's accurate, sounds good and has a delicious amount of whimsy.

After playing The Ur'Quan Masters a little last night I came up with a little idea/blatant ripoff:

"The Inevitably Successfull Under All Circumstances"

I mean, we know that all Quentyn has to do is 'try' and the village is saved - if he return with some artifacts, good for him, if he returns at all, even better, if he doesn't return then we'll... uhm.. dunno... but no matter what, he will be 'succesfull' in saving the village...

But it's not Rillcreek's anymore, that's the big problem...

So? It was his dream to build and fly it. Even though he is not the owner now and not going on the voyage, it still remains his dream and is a good way to honor his contribution to saving the village.

White Stag is a LITTLE pretensious... OTOH it probably isn't bragging if you actually DID earn the title.

"White Stag's Kiss" ?

What I HAVEN'T seen in all the entries so far is something that sums up the idea of re-establishing contact with the wider word... Quentin's ambassidorship, even if only in an unofficial capacity. Not that this is necessarily what he would want to emphasize, but when brain-storming it is best to cover all the approaches to a question.

Hmmmm....

"Ambassidor Ship" (A bit corny perhaps)

"Olive Branch"

"Wound's Healing" ? (healing the wounds between humans and the Rac Conan Diamh)

"Peace-hope"

"Whisp of Hope"

"Dove-Owl" (Peace and stealth... a timid and shy dream)

"Trust's Resurrection"

"Hidden in the Drying Rushes" (A reference to the spies in Jericho, calling to mind both traveling above the clouds (or just very high up) to avoid notice and also to finding the few humans who would be welcoming toward him as Rahab was)

"Cloud-Dream of Reconsiliation"

(Name it after... I can't remember the guy's name, but the one who went forth with a lantern, looking for an honest man.)

"Breath of the Dove"

"Breath of Peace"

"The Cautionous Hand of Peace"

"Fear-Ender"

"Seeker of the New Dawn"

"Hate's Bane"

"The Other Cheek"

"Rac Conan Daimh's Return"

"New Dawn"

"Fear's Ending"

"Sojourner"

"Dove's Innocence (, Serpent's Craftiness)" (Only tell most people the FIRST half of the name  ... a reference to one of Jesus's instructions to his followers when he sent them forth)

Unrelated:
"Freedom's Choice" (How he picked this course, of his own free will to save the Freedom of others, in contrast to the aristocratic ways of most humans)
