What Happened?
I was trying to edit the HTML for my comic "Nowhereville Inc." and I have no clue what happened (I seriously have no clue how to edit the thing either)
So, just before it's finished, I go back to look at my first page and it gives me a 404 Not Found error.
Page two comes up fine but I can't get to page one. Can anyone help?

There is no "www" in comicgenesis addresses. Your comic is just fine: http://nowhereville.comicgenesis.com

I was told in a tutorial for putting up buttons that if they don't show up I should overwrite it <.<

No, the page you see is the second one. The first one doesn't work.Oualawouzou wrote:There is no "www" in comicgenesis addresses. Your comic is just fine: http://nowhereville.comicgenesis.com

Overwriting is just uploading a new copy of the file over the old one, not deleting it. Is there a file in your /workspace folder named exactly dailytemplate.html ? If not, none of your archive (/d/) pages will work.
Also, sometimes the navigation buttons don't show up until you have 5 or so comics in your archives.

Ok, three things now...
1) What file were you editing when things went south?
2) Have you opened your dailtytemplate.html to make sure there is code in it and it isn't an empty document?
3) This bit has me puzzled:

Do you mean comics that you were trying to modify and it didn't work, or comics that have yet to be made public? Because if the later, you're not looking in the right place. There is a public_html/comics folder for comics that are available (dated before today) and a workspace/comics folder for comics that have not yet been published (dated after today). So, just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, you do have a comic for 20060623 in public_html/comics ? If so, try deleting it, uploading a new copy of the comic in workspace/comics (still dated 20060623) and triggering a regular manual update.I have the comics that havn't been updated in the public_html/comics directory

I was putting in an archive which failed ._.
I opened it and there is text there for the template so that's not altered.
Comics that havn't been brought public yet is what I mean.
Okay, I get the folders part. It seems it renamed it's self from "20060623" to "20060723" but I changed that back back it doesn't work. So I delete it from the public_html/comics folder and upload a new one to workspace/comics and do a regular manual update, correct?
Also, the artist would like to know if there's a way to start over without messing up the site (even though we have nothing on it) Like, to delete the pages and re-upload them. It's basically don't what is stated above, right?

Hm, from what I can see, your archive page just seems to be missing.
There's a couple things to check:
First check the '/public_html/d/' folder and see if the file is actually there. If the folder is empty, that's the problem.
Second, if the file is missing and the /d/ folder is empty, check your '/public_html/comics/' folder and see if your previous comic is there. If this folder is ALSO empty, then somehow both your comic and page are missing.
The easiest way to fix this problem is to upload the comic you want displayed with the name '20060623.(gif, jpg, png)' in the '/public_html/comics/' folder and then simply run a full update. It should then generate a page with the same name, featuring the proper comic based on your 'dailytemplate.html' file.

I didn't have a /d/ folder o.o I added one just now and the page is in the other folders.
I think it's just that I was missing the /d/ folder. Maybe when it first updated for the second page I didn't know what it was for <.< so I accidentally deleted it
This is so hard for me

There was nothing in them because you had no comics up yet. /d/ is where your comic pages go. After an auto/manual update, if there is a comic with today's date they are made into pages based on your dailytemplate.html with the comic images from workspace/comics/. These pages are put into public_html/d/ automatically.
Workspace is basically where you put all your pages with the ***tags*** and everything, with your comics in /comics/ and then after you trigger an update it will take all your pages from /workspace/, replace the ***tags*** with the appropriate html, and move any comics with today's date from workspace/comics/ to pages in public_html/d/.
So yeah, just because it was empty doesn't mean it wasn't necessary. Hopefully that'll clear some stuff up. Just don't touch anything in public_html from now on.
Oh, and if I'm wrong about anything, feel free to correct me. I am a noob, after all.

If 20060703 is your first page, I can see it just fine. It did take awhile to load though.
EDIT: Oh, I see. You meant your first comic and not your main page. No, that doesn't show up for me either.
EDIT2: Here's what I think you should do since you only appear have two comics up anyway:
FIRST, make sure your dailytemplate.html has a ***todays_comics*** tag.
Next, make sure that your first comic is named with the correct date and open it to ensure that it is in fact the correct file. (Sounds stupid, but you never know.)
If that doesn't work you could try getting rid of all the comics that are there so far, re-uploading them, and then doing an update:
1. Delete all the comics from public_html/d/ [DO NOT DELETE /d/, JUST THE CONTENTS]
2. Delete all the comics from workspace/comics/
3. Re-upload all the comics with the dates that you want them to show up on in the format of yyyymmdd. Put them in workspace/comics/. Do not touch public_html.
4. Trigger a regular update.
5. Never ever ever touch public_html again or delete anything that you don't know what it is ever again or I'll call you a moron and eat your first born child.
If none of that works, post again.
EDIT3: I noticed after viewing your source for your first comic that it DOES say the image is there, but it also shows "width='0'" and "height='0'", which leads me to believe that you have a comic for that day with the correct date, but the image is blank or corrupt or something. Double and then triple check the comic for that date.
