Swamp or Seven Villages? I would be S.V. since I am afraid of bees, much less monsters. Probably Sanctuary City...they likely have the better libraries and bookstores.

I dunno, I like being connected to information which imho would promote sanctuary, but I live based on the world around me and I live on a farm so maybe Freeman downs?
actually now that I think about it I kinda do live in the middle of nowhere. maybe somewhere between the villages.

I study physics with a passion... more precisely experimental solid state physics. I'd say that translates into mage student, most likely one of the more applied mages. I already have a tendency to run questionable experiments for fun, and with no need for external tools, that would only become more pronounced.
More is difficult to say without knowledge of what kinds of mages there are. Of course, magic ability seems to be partially inborn, so I might not be able to make it that far. But on the other hand, mathematical ability is quite possibly partially inborn as well, so who's to say.
For place of residence, that would be Sanctuary, even after training is finished. I have always loved cities, so long as they don't get too big. 250,000 sounds beautiful, and you bet there's lots of other students with silly ideas in their heads running around there.

Sapere aude!
I'd definitely be somewhere in the seven villages, most likely as a Jack-of-all-trades type. I'd probably spend most of my life on the road, going wherever work was available. Despite my intellectual side, there's always going to be a demand for laborers, and most will pay a good price to someone willing to do what they aren't. Broken pipe? No problem. Broken window? I can take care of that. Broken heart? ...write Dear Abby.
^ the above was me sounding like I know WTF I'm talking about.
Sanctuary, Artificer.
I have degrees in most of the sciences but I always make a living at building and repairing actual things and not anything abstract.
I take the theoretical and make them in to an actual thing. To have a job like that you have to be building things for someplace with a lot of resources.

Anyone who knows about my Marten Quickblade character already knows what I'm going to say.
If not, a jack-of-all-trades, varying from wandering to living in Sanctuary, real jovial type.

Both a heart and a brain are necessary for survival. Without one, the other will quickly perish.

Semi Jack of All Trades.. Can do almost anything pretty good, but mostly I'd sell stuff on a cart.
I'd go to markets, and say "Look! Shinies!" and the racoons will go "Oooo, Shinies!" and buy my shinies. I'd then go look in the markets for new shinies to bring to other markets.
...or is that Ferrets?

Heh! Just check out Ampiere in Mystories Start Small. I'd be an artificer in the seven villiges.

Novelist and part time treasure hunter. Which would probably make me almost dirt poor, with occasional periods of fame and wealth which I'd blow on the next expedition.
"Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction. They may be summed up by the phrases: (1) It's completely impossible. (2) It's possible, but it's not worth doing. (3) I said it was a good idea all along."
