Ugh - being a computer support intern for a science group over the summer exposed my to that. Being the intern, I got to clean the grode out of the keyboard of the scientists who were sacked.
However, provided it's the old style of keyboard and not a new one with anything fancy like a chip in it (I think - you may need to search this to check) you can put it in the dishwasher, and let it dry out afterwards before plugging it back in. But don't take my word on it - I don't remember exactly what kinds can handle this.
I think that's a bad idea.
I have a laptop
Take the keyboard out completely, it's a 2 minute job at most. Easy to clean then.
The keys on my laptop pop off real easy. I just have to be careful, though, since the longer keys like the space bar, shift, and others have a metal bar that holds them down and they're tricky to get back on.
There was so much dust and crumbs under my keys .

My old computer came with a clear keyboard. It's kinda neat until you can see all the crumbs and fingernails inside. When you take the canned air to it, it all swirls around the inside like some kind of disgusting little storm.
imho, washing your keyboard in a dishwasher is a bad idea, regardless of the age of the keyboard.
Hook up the hose attachment to your vaccum cleaner. Turn off your computer. Use the hose attachment on your keyboard. It'll suck all those crumbs out, unless you've poured pop on your keyboard or something sticky.
For keys, anything will do - I use windex or rubbing alcohol on my laptop keys to clean them.
Just remember - system powered off and unplugged.

Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.

I'm afraid to put any solvents on my keyboard because my N key is gone and the M and the K are rapidly following. It's a good thing I can touch type.
I shall try this "vacuum hose attachment" thing. But carefully. Very carefully.

by the time you're done you'll be missing a few more keys.
