Blargh. I grew up using macs because most public schools in the fake Waterloo (yes, I lived in another fake place when I was little) had them, but I've switched to PCs of late. I really don't care -- either type gets the job done eventually, and as others have said, the viruses aren't an issue if you learn to protect your computer. I have yet to pick up a virus on my new system, and it's nearly a year old. (The family computer is another story, I will admit...)

That, at least, I will dispute. I hate the Windows Media Player, and even before I got iTunes, I never used it for anything but music. ZoomPlayer "for the win" when it comes to movies, as you silly children say.SergeXIII wrote:What about Windows Media Player? Its been around WAY longer than itunes, can play different file types easier, and can play movies to boot.

I don't get why people get so passoinate about worshiping or hating one of platforms either. I mean, prefering one over the other because it suits you better or because you're used to it is one thing, but tens of pages of arguements on various forums is another thing. To me it's like tens of pages of discussion over whether Cola or Pepsi is better.
Really the only ones who should lead that fight are corporations that produce them. Folks are doing them free marketing job.

Well, me and quite a few Apple products in the past have had a difference of opinion that turned sour. A certain Apple G4 running OS 9 comes to mind....mcDuffies wrote:I don't get why people get so passoinate about worshiping or hating one of platforms either. I had an osx machine die when I turned it onPeppermintAfterlife wrote:OS X is a different universe. OS 9 was a horrendous piece of trash that crashed on me every 5 minutes. I've only had OS X crash on me twice in the last 4 years. My windows machine rarely crashes either, so I use both. That's all I'll say in this tired old topic.

I remember using the old Macs at the school. We had to save our stuff on disk. But the keyboard on mine died. So guess what? I couldn't turn it on. Because the keyboard didn't work. And because I couldn't turn it on, I couldn't get my disk out, because the genious that designed it didn't put an eject button on the disk drive.
I know Apple tries really hard to be 'different' but seriously. I'm not going to design a car and go, "Seatbelts? Airbags? Feh, everyone has those. Let's make it so you have to start the car... by licking the steering wheel! THAT WOULD BE SO RAD!"
I know it's not like that anymore, but now you know where my hatred stems from....

Yeah we had to use lil macs at my highschool and better yet we had so OS9 G4s when I started at the community college and they would eat our zip disks...KittyKatBlack wrote:I remember using the old Macs at the school. I chuckled a bit, but the execution was poor. The no-one-cares-enough-to-make-a-Mac-virus joke could have been done without the commercial reference. Who is going to remember that commercial in three years? I haven't even freaking seen the damn thing.
EDIT: And just to be sure I wasn't hating on the strip just because my past experience with Tim Buckley's work has been to really, really not like it, I wasted several minutes reading through the recent CAD archives. Can't be prejudiced and all.
But you know what I learned about prejudice tonight? It can be a good thing, and I wish I had listened to it.

CAD's one of those comics that I liked enough, but didn't need to be reading. When all these accounts of what an asshole Tim Buckly is and how badly he was treating his fans, it put a dark cloud over the comic and I just couldn't enjoy reading it anymore.

It's for our amusement. Someone has to suffer so the rest can avoid the same pain, I guess.Sortelli wrote:GAWD, I don't. I just read more of it. UGH. I'm trying to isolate exactly what it is that makes my eyeballs unhappy here, and as soon as I do that I'm sure I'll spend a day writing a long LJ piece on it and. . . *sob* my life is a lie. Why do I do this?

each system has its advantages and disadvantages, the fighting over "who's better" is just silly and wasting time and money. The competition it breeds to make better machines, however, is rather productive.

The MAC Vs PC debate, I find is just as retardedand the whole, ROLLERBLADER vs SKATEBOARDER debate was. Then it died out, and anyone that mention that either one is so much better, got beat down by both parties. Maby that will happen soon with this one. We shall pelt them with computer monitors. Does that sound a bit harsh?
