Not 100% we are right but that's the one I was thinking of =]phactorri wrote:Windguards or windshield
Also this was the last post on the other page so it'd likely be lost otherwise.
Just bumping this one time because I'm definitly still interested if JT, Faceless, Tynan, McDuffies, Rock, Lego, or any of the other people who I may have missed would like to submit.
Having a good mic is not too too important essentially, but the voice has to be as clear as possible and with as little static or pops in the sound quality. It might not be the easiest thing ever but my first mic was the one that came with my computer and was less than awesome but with that I could make clips of the necesary quality.
The biggest thing is usually not sound quality but people's breath rushing across the mic making a whisper/whoosing noise. I actually made a makeshift windguard (or whatever the technical term is) but covering the mic with a cloth.
The more the merrier though so even if you're shy or nervous just send something in, if you don't feel totally confident do it anyway, I'll help you out anyway I can whether it be voice acting tips, recording tips, or anything else that might come up. =]

Audacity is a great one (I use it for simple recording), Kisai had the best information in an earlier thread so I'm gonna go dredge that up from the ghost of forum past and edit it into this post.
The LAME mp3 export plugin is really important to snag just to emphasize, makes the filesizes we deal with more managable than .wav's if you have trouble with it (I doubt that will crop up though) let me know and I can help out.Kisai wrote:Okay, everyone loves to do things in Off Topic...
Download http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ , also install the LAME mp3 export plugin.
Quick hint, 1MB = 1 minute in mp3, depending on the settings. I recommend recording at 44100hz 16bit mono, and then encoding to 128Kbit mp3.
