Comic doubling up....

Post by InSearchOfDreams »

Hey, everyone... I'm a total n00b at this, so PLEASE forgive me if I sound more than a little spastic.

I just started getting my comic up (finally), and I find a certain problem when I go to view my site. I put in the url: http://insearchofdreams.comicgenesis.com, and it loads, but it displays the most recent comic TWICE.... I'm not sure if it's my browser (most recent Firefox), or if I did something wrong when I uploaded it to the /workspace directory.

As far as I know, I followed the directions on the tutorials for updating my comic, but now I'm not so sure....

Can anyone help?

Thanks
Jen

Check your public_html/comics folder. Is there a double upload there by accident? If so delete it and hightail it out of public_html. XD;

hmm.... It doesn't LOOK like there's more than one... Here's what I have when I access it:

Image

I checked in the other folders, as well... it doesn't appear to be duplicated anywhere, that I can see. (I checked comics, d, w, images (just in case...), and the corresponding folders in the workspace)

Hmm, I'm not sure then. I'm still new to this as well. ^^; I hope someone else can help more!

Check your indextemplate.html file in your workspace directory (you should be able to right click it, then choose Edit, or something along those lines, depending on your FTP Client). Check to see if the tag ***todays_comics*** appears twice. If that's the case, that would explain it, and all you would have to do is delete one of those tags, and run an Index Update.

Hope that helps.

That's everything in the IndexTemplate page... Am I missing something?

(I've been up for three days straight working on backlog, so it is VERY likely.... lol)

Hmm, no, that seems to be right.

The only other thing I can think of is that you uploaded your comic twice into your workspace/comics folder. If they were the exactly same name (including case) than the new one would've overwritten the other, but maybe they're not. In that case, the ***todays_comics*** will put anything with the same date signature (the YYYYMMDD stuff), in alphabetical order.

Check your workspace/comics folder to make sure the comic that is being displayed isn't in there, or anything else with the same date signature, and then go to your public_html/comics folder and see how many files are in there. There should only two files in there, the .htaccess and the one of your comic. If there are two of your comics, try deleting one, or both, and run an update.

Hope that helps.

Hmm... doesn't seem to want to fix it. I checked the data on each of the images on the index page (just in case it was pulling from different places) and it looks like my index page is seeing ***todays_comics*** as TWO of the same command, for some reason....

I checked all the folders again, and all the individual files, and I still can't figure out what it is that's not reading properly.
