Palladium Games in trouble!

Post by Rkolter »

Had this thread pointed out to me on the Palladium forums by Something Positive's blog:

http://forums.palladium-megaverse.com/v ... hp?t=57048

Seems Palladium games, makers of some of my favorite rpgs, may be going bust. :(

I guess there is a line of script that calls forth Satan in their books.

Right here, in fact. ;)

Pfeh. Everyone knows if you make a deal with Satan, you get all sorts of cool stuff while you're alive. This isn't cool stuff.

I find it difficult to feel sympathy for someone who spawned Rifts.

Still...their other games...

Regardless, it seems so strange considering how long they've been around.

I liked Rifts. And Robotech. And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And Marvel Superheros. I liked them all.

I remember we played polar bears once, and started stealing air conditioners so that we could turn part of the sewer into a lair.

I will give them props for TMNT. And it's sad about the whole embezellment thing. Man...what is it with game companies and crooked accountants? Steve Jackson Games had to deal with a bit of that, if I remember correctly.

But the N Gage...oh man, they really should have tested the waters before leaping into that one. The reception for the thing was chilly before its release, and never changed afterwards. Of course, the N Gage was a pretty terrible contraption. I remember seeing a cell phone store line its walls with their unsold boxes.

A disturbingly large amount of the smaller companies have been going bankrupt lately. It won't be long until EA, Squaresoft, Capcom and Namco are the only third party developers left.
