Harrison Ford has a small scar on his face. In movie three, there was a flashback showing how Indiana Jones got said scar, his fear of snakes, the whip, and even the hat. Presumably the flashback was ment to show the audence Indy' relationship with his father, but they milked it for all it was worth.

I always found it odd that they felt they had to explain the scar on his chin. That's not Indiana Jones' scar, it's Harrison Ford's. Which means that Han Solo has it, too.
