Comicgenesis Logo

Post by Linkara »

So, I'm thinking about long-term plotting with my comic and a certain arc i want to do (details would be too spoilerific), and I started to think - what are the ramifications of using the sweet ComicGenesis logo in a webcomic, either just as a random thing thrown in or as a specific plot point? Is it allowed? Is it frowned upon? Am I going to get something thrown at me now?

Didn't someone here use one of the big Keenspace crashes of yesteryear as a major plot point? I've heard stories of it, but I hadn't read it.

I can't see any reason why not to if you do it appropriately.

I've used the Holden car symbol on a pair of kids' dirty boxers and they haven't come seeking my back pocket.

Email me asking for it's use. I'll forward it to the Keen Four, who hold ownership over the logo and it's use.

I thought one of the selling points of the name change was that we'd get to use the name and logo on things.

We have permission to use the logo on promotional materials, I think, but this is a little different to that and it's probably worth checking since it was asked. However, I can't imagine there'd be any problems.

Anyway, if and when it happens, you can download the logo files from here.

Is there a reason the actual Comicgenesis logo needs to be used? Making a pardoy of it might be even funnier.

Three reasons:

1. I'm lazy and don't want to make up a different symbol
2. It looks really cool
3. It'd be an interesting in-joke that people will wonder "Where is he going with this?"
