It really depends on how Ralph wants to make the details in the next few strips. If Quentyn is making semi-frequent trips back to restock supplies and the village is putting up a tab on it, gratitude will be replaced by resentment over time...

Not Brownies, guys..."she". Am I leaving enough hints here? Owes Quentyn, bigtime? As does her parents? Got a crush on him in fact? Best sniffer-outer in generations?

I think the term "sniffing out" could legitimately throw people off. It really sounded to me like you were talking about some dog or other non-anthropomorphic animal, and I was somewhat puzzled, because I couldn't remember anything like that.

But Nessie.... Hmmmm. I suppose it's possible, but I have trouble picturing Nessie going along.

Why would she have to?

We have no idea her current range, esp. now that she's had some training.

She needn't enter the picture right away. Quentyn has to make one trip to get one object for her to home in on. Meanwhile she's at wizard central boning up. By the time she's ready to play she may not have to physically go anywhere to help.

This is going to take mulitple trips to complete. Quentyn will take those who can help him the most for the particular quest he will be going on so the team may change from Quest to Quest. :o

Nessie's range isn't known, but it does seem to be nearly unlimited. As far as needing an artifact goes, she should be able to use one from the Archivist's guild as a starting point. Whether she has to be with Quentyn is another matter.

I have trouble picturing Quentyn inviting Nessie. I have less trouble imaging her tagging along anyway, even in the face of a bunch of opposition.
