It doesn't remind me of that Star Wars scene, since Rose doesn't even know what is going on. THAT is what I find so good about this strip. Rose is talking on as if nothing is happening WHILE IN CLEAR SIGHT Quentyn is fighting for his life against a Kraken. It more reminds me of the scene in Men In Black where the new MIB is being thrown around by a tentacle while the old MIB talks on as if nothing is happening.

But she is isn't looking at him...she's looking in the opposite direction.

My guess is that they're revoking the village's charter on account of their village questor acting outside some sort of bounds. It's the nightmare that Gilder was worried about. No village = no village questor, just a hot-headed guy with no authority, much more easily disposed of.

What's interesting is that if the Council is advisory, the executors are acting in a very strange fashion. They should not be starting with Lady Rose but filing the official papers and setting up the details of implementation with the local guard after introducing them to their new bosses in whatever political subdivision Freeman Downs is getting folded up inside.

I know Madmoonie, but all she has to do is turn around. That is what makes it so funny.

I'm inclined to agree with TMLutas -- no mere civil claim would send Rose though a warp-speed journey through four of the five stages of grief...

Panel 1 -- Denial
Panel 2 -- Bargaining
Panel 3 -- Anger
Panel 4 -- Depression

Panel 5 is *supposed* to be acceptance, but we are interrupted by the fracas in the backyard.

Maybe legally "Shang-hied" into dealing with something related to the creator of the rat king and deciples....or maybe something involving the Gragum "government" ??

Maybe even something dealing with humans ?
I had similar thoughts, this is the classical "What you want him to do is suicide!" dialogue.

My guess is that someone in the government finally has realized that the Rac'conan have no idea of what has happened in the outside world over the course of the last few centuries and that it might be a good idea to finally send a scout. The official reasoning might have something to do with Quentyn's "talent for improvisation" or the fact that the "Gragum respect him", but in truth he's just dispensable. Oh, there might be some double-cross involved... like a hidden revenge plot or using him as bait, so that the _real_ scouts can observe what today's humans will do to a Rac'conan.

Quentyn is going to live in interesting times.

And hello everyone, this is my first post in this forum. :)

I dont's think RH will ever have Quentyn leave the seven villages, on the other hand while in Haven he may have made some rather powerful political enemies.
Yeah you know RH is laughing at us right now, he LOOOOOOVES keeping us in suspence. The next couple of days are going to unbareble.......

YO! Hi there! Welcome to the forum. Check your sanity at the door, and please, under any circumstances, don't feed Solidus.

Sorry, I misread your post and took it a wrong meaning. I'm sorry.

No, it's easier for me. Every time I open a new window (just by hitting "appleN") it goes to the homepage, not the page I already had open. I use Macs, not PCs.

:ick: MAC's are icky. I am a graphic designer and I still prefer PC's.

To each their own. I think PCs are icky *and* I've never gotten a virus. EVER! I don't even need the software to keep them away.

Anyway, back on topic, I've read today's comic at least a dozen times and still laugh out loud. But what threw him in the first panel? Electricity? Where did that come from?

Wildcard, perhaps? Then again, the second time around we don't see anything but flying severed tentacles.

Also, a question: is there any way to get directly to this board after signing in? It always kicks me out to the ComicGen home page.
