I don't so much as mind if people tell me they are linking me and to link them (well lets see the amount of times that has happened I can count on three fingers), if they suck, I just err don't e-mail them back and try to forget the strange thing ever happened.
With this strategy I have never failed!

What do you say to someone whose webcomic sucks so horribly that you can't bear the thought of soiling your links page and all the other comics on it with said awful comic's presence? I felt bad about ignoring e-mails, but I had to do that on two occasions, because I really didn't know how to nicely tell the people that they sucked.
Seriously, it's great to link other people, but asking for linkage is not a good idea. Unless someone asks you to give them comics to link -- then, pimp away!
