You start with single cellular life. You build an entire species from scratch and it evolves. And the world evolves along with you. And then you have an animal and it evolves more. until it's intelligent. And then it evolves more. Until it takes over. And then it evolves more... and then you can visit not just other planets, but other planets that have also evolved, and have become intelligent and interact with them. And you can start new civilizations, and they too will evolve. nuke planets? Man, this is a simulation of the whole goddamn universe. Well.. galaxy.
Not to mention that actions are fluid- they can be combined together to form new ones. And it all affects later behavior patterns of the species.
