Artist wanted
Artist wanted
I'm not sure if this is the best place for this but... I have been working on a webcomic off and on for the past two years. Well, between my crappy art and my complete lack of time to devote to improving it, I've decided to look for someone to draw it for me. So if there are any artists out there interested in drawing a webcomic but don't have any ideas of their own, email me or P.M. me. If you want to get an idea of what its about visit oddworld.comicgen.com.
My horrid little comic: Our Odd World. I like to pretend I know what I'm doing.

Unfortunately you most likely won't find an artist here. In just a little bit I'm sure Joel or someone is gonna come in here with a copy and pasted message that we have for the people that come in wanting an artist.
Just some advice, if you go anywhere else to ask for an artist also put in an example of your writing in the message you make. You did pretty well by putting a link to your site for an example; but a lot of people won't be bothered to go there to see it.
I wish you luck in finding an artist, but I'm also one of those people that think you just need to keep at drawing and do the comic yourself.

I agree with that. You're already on your way, so why quit now? Take a couple art classes, invest in some cartooning How-To books. In the end, the product is much more satisfying, and will probably match up your mental picture better.K-Dawg wrote:I wish you luck in finding an artist, but I'm also one of those people that think you just need to keep at drawing and do the comic yourself.
The bottom line is that no artist (especially not an unpaid one) is going to care about your comic as much as you do.

Blackaby lies, people signed up because of her good writing, don't believe her lies, she's a good writer, so she comes up with good, believable lies. Liar-ess.
Ahem, anyway, I thank you for at least having something to show here, that's a plus. And while I agree the art has a way to go, I admit there's a good zany quality to the writing, so I don't blame you for your request. So good luck in your endeavor.

I think you will have better luck finding an artist if you're willing to pay one. Also, try http://www.deviantart.com

Of course you could always just start writing for art that's already drawn.

Nope, hon, probably not going to happen here.
Why? Well...most of US thought their work sucked when they first started (me included) and spent a LOT of time trying to improve and learn all the lil tricks that make the comic pages look good. Also, most of us have a comic already. We've invested a lot of time into that comic, and for those of us who do, updating regularly is on an importance level similar to oxygen. We're not about to risk missed updates for a comic we have NOT invested tons of time in.
I'd suggest you try Deviant Art or another artist website. Lots of bored art people there.

Joel Fagin wrote:Not many people have much luck with this sort of thing, unfortunately. Drawing is harder and more involved work than writing and anyone who signs on will be doing a lot of work for an untried and untested author whom they don't know. Even if you are a good writer, they don't know you or how you work. They, in short, don't know how well they'll work with you or you with them.
It's a huge leap of faith. It does happen and it is worth trying but don't be surprised if nothing comes of it. Here is certainly not a good place as we all have our own comics.
It is also, incidently, not that hard to learn how to draw. Many, many comics, if you look at them at the beginning, have anything from bad to abyssmal artwork. College Roomies From Hell, which is very popular, started out with very crude scrawls indeed.
Best of luck, though.

I refer you to the thread from last week or so, entitled: Comic Artist Wanted.
Don't feel bad - props to you for starting the process at all and getting feelers out there. You're not foolish for asking. Light of the Stars (see below) is a comic I drew for a friend who asked on these forums, and for a while it went well. As you will notice if you look, however, it hasn't updated for months, due largely to the problems that ALWAYS come up in a situation where the artist and writer aren't directly connected.
Good luck!

not quite so. im actually looking for a VERY good humerous writer to allow me to get my more light hearted style out in the open, as opposed to my more serious one, since i fail at writing the funny.
that said, this is not an offer, because im really not interested unless they are like, you know class A funny. and i cant get your site to load to see.

Jaw droppingly large strawberry desserts.
