The Fairgrounds are open nearly all year round,
and most of the rides are part of it. So, yes,
the roller-coaster is actually more a part of
the Fairgrounds than the Festival, per se.

I've seen a ride called the Gravitron at some
of the traveling fairs during the summer.

I had to do a physics question (twice, but that's another story) on a Gravitron ride, which was (in the question) a large cylinder onto whose inner surface you were strapped and spun. Apparently, with a five-metre diameter and a speed of 20 rpm, the force on you is over twice your own weight, and that largely horizontally. Yikes.
My personal favourite was always the... the one where you were shoved extremely hard into the person sitting on the outside. (Or, if unlucky, had people shoved extremely hard into you.)
Ah, those lazy, crazy, quite painful days of summer.
------------------

I work for a TV station which sets up a series of newscasts at a local fair every year.. After working 15 fairs, I'm almost a "carnie" myself...
The Gravitron that they set up here tilts about 45 degrees off horizontal after spinning up. I don't ride on it.

Needless to say, I detest them all.
With the sole exception of the ferris wheel.
------------------
