Goblin Hollow RPing
Will sticks a paper marker in the book, and flips it to the first page.
Will touches the blank page with three fingers, and grumbles something that sounds distinctly feline. As he takes his hand away, silver traces appear over the page, starting from where his fingers had touched the page.
When the traces are finished, the shining silver on the page, depicts a lion's head in a sun. The same emblem seen earlier on the breastplates and shields of the villagers.
"Aye, the author was of The Order." he says.

"Well, that does explain why it's in this library," Vlad says, smiling, "We did find something very interesting, though. We know that vampires must rest in their native soil to renew themselves. Pretty standard. However, this gentleman found out that some of the smarter ones put their soil in hollowed out areas in their footwear, meaning that they are always standing on their native soil. So, they can circumvent various restrictions, like not being about to cross running water."
Toma smiles to himself. Just as he thought, not talking for awhile made everybody forget he was even there. Now perhaps he'll have the chance to turn the tables on the (possibly inadvertantly) eavesdropping Vlad. The cleric, if such he really was, was certainly trying to shoo everybody away without being obvious about it.

After the group leaves for the shops, Vlad turns to the Elder.
"I thank you for your help," he says, "But I'd rather puzzle over some of this on my own, if you don't mind."
"Of course," the elder says, "There is a bell pull by the door if you require anything."
With that, the elder leaves.
"Now," Vlad says to himself, "Let's see what you were really up to."
He flips the book to the beginning again and starts reading at a lightning speed.

Outside, Deac steadies John, gives a muffled laugh, then turns around. He reaches for the door and then stops. He says outloud, "Perhaps it can wait. Come John, lets go to the market."
Deac walks down the street at an easygoing gait. He is mentally going over a list of things he needs. Deac then looks over his shoulder at John and asks, "What do you need, John?"

Nessa chuckles to the bard and inclines her head as she stands to go. "If you'll excuse me, I need ot be getting back to my stall. I doubt my freind is comfortable attending it herself. Pleasure to meet you."
Wrapping her cloak around her she walks with quick tiny steps out the hall and turns towards the village market. It is not long before a group of children form around her, several of the younger ones excitedly showing her pretty stones or things they found that day. The group changes as she makes her way into the market, more children being added while others slip away with a shouted goodby or wave to go back to thier daily tasks.
By the time thr group arrives at the seemingly unattended herbs and potions stand, it is down to two or three. The children rush ahead and pat and pet the small grey wolf sitting next to the stand watchfully.
"How's business?" Nessa jokes. The children laugh as the wolf growfs and seems to roll it's eyes. No one seems to think it odd and very soon the last children drift away, leaving Nessa and her wolf friend to thier stand.
Humming softly, the half-elf moves about displays and generally keeps busy between helping the ocassional customer or chatting with passing friends. The wolf simply sits next to the stand and tilts it's head to occasional questions posed to it by Nessa.

“I mostly need spell materials. A small horn, a glass eye, some cat fur, some wool, some phosphorus, a glow worm tail, a drop of mercury, some glass beads, licorice root shavings, a soft glove, a clear crystal, a piece of cured leather, a piece of turtle shell, a piece of quartz, and a piece of straw. I doubt I'll be able to get all that.”

Deac's eyes widen in surprise. "A glass eye?" he asks John incredulously. When John nods, Deac turns around and shrugs in his armor. "Well, I am sure we can ask. Although I do not know if anyone is going to be willing to sell a single blade of straw."
Deac then continues his easygoing pace towards the market. As the two get closer, the noise level gets slowly louder. Soon it is a busy market buzz, full of the hustle and bustle of afternoon shopping. Some families were walking together, purchasing various items and food. Children ran among the stalls yelling and playing while their parents chased after them. Men and women walked around, buying and selling many wares in an air that seemed very much alive. Deac eyed the food stalls with partiuclar interest.
However, one stall seemed of particular interest to a gaggle of small ones as they would run over to it, peek over the counter and dart away, giggling and screaming with delight. Deac noticed that stall was piled high with bottles of various colors and shapes, but he could not see who occupied the stall due to other stalls in the way and other shoppers. Deac gave John a nudge and said, "I think we might be able to find some of what you are looking for over yonder."
Deac walk over with John behind him and turned the corner in front of the stall. "Greetings! My friend and I....I-I....aye," Deac started cheerfully and then trailed off as he noticed a large mound of fur with an equally impressive set of teeth. Deac's hand instinctively twitched toward one of his knives, but he stopped when noticed the wolf creature giving him a stare that was as intense as the one he was giving it.

Will walks silently down a row of shelves. A skill as natural to him as stalking, and honed as a youth, hunting and on patrol, at least when he isn't wearing full plate that is.
He scans the shelves of books for a particular one.. One curiously bound.
When he finds it he pulls it off the shelf. The bound volume is armored in the same scales as he himself is covered.
He carries the book back to a comfortable reading chair near Vlad, and silently takes a seat.
He then presses a finger against the books seal, and with a feline grumble and a flair of golden light, the tome opens.
To the silent observer, the pages seem as if they are golden. The strange glyphs on the page seem as if they are etched, no, scratched into the pages, as if perhaps, by a claw.
Will also seems to be reading quickly, turning pages almost as quickly as Vlad. Though ocassionaly he will stop and re-read some passage, then pause a moment to ponder, with the golden light reflecting from his eyes as it does from the pages.

Roy clears his throat and takes a sudden interest in the remaining milk in his mug, polishing it off and then taking a while to look around the table as though for something else to eat...when Nessa excuses herself, just before she's out the door, he murmurs, "I'm really not at liberty t' say just now..."NydaLynn wrote:Nessa chuckles softly. "I am surprised you move enough to be a bard. So what brings you to visit this welcoming village?"
A long minute passes where the unicorn is the only person left in the breakfast area. He stands, brushes a few crumbs from his lap, collects the plates together to make busing them a bit easier for whoever's job that is, and finally strolls out into the daylight softly whistling a jouncy tune.

Vlad finishes reading and looks up to see Will sitting near by. He gets up and heads over.
"If you don't mind," Vlad says, "I'd like to ask you a few questions regarding your Order. It seems that there are a few instances in this journal that mention certain rites that are remarkable similar to one of the groups I have had contact with recently."
