We may have a problem...

Post by StrangeWulf13 »

I got this link from Penny Arcade:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Fancruft

I'm a bit worried the entry on Tales of the Quester might fall under the definition. You have to admit, this is not exactly a subject everyone will find interest in (and I know from personal experience that a few people are convinced Ralph cannot draw... don't ask me why). Still, if it were removed or suggested for removal, we could move it over to Wikifur... Sort of a Wikipedia for furries, though I don't have the exact url on hand.

Might want to check Wikipedia and make sure having the Questor entry up is okay. I don't know why it wouldn't be though. Last I checked, it was well written, and gave an objective assessment of things. So why it would be considered "not encyclopedic enough", I don't know. I've always felt an encyclopedia should have information on everything. If something does not appeal to me, I simply do not read it. Why would I contest its presence?

*sigh* Well, at least they're a bit more open-minded on some things, and you don't have to wait a year or so for them to update. And it's free! Free is good!

...sheesh, I turned a note of concern over the Questor article into a multi-paragraph post. I really need to cut down on my lines. :-?
I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.

I checked on it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_Questor and it is fine but it has this message:

Important: This article is becoming very long. Please consider transferring content to subtopic articles where appropriate.

I am not sure who it working on the article but they could break it down by year instead of one long article. :)

I tried typing in http://www.wikifur.com, and got redirected to http://furry.wikicities.com/wiki/WikiFur_Furry_Central. Easy enough. :) I started looking around and found entries for Goblin Hollow, Nip & Tuck, Tales of the Questor and their creator, Ralph Hayes, Jr.
The Entry for Questor contains a fairly complete synopsis of the storyline so far, but entries for Goblin Hollow, Nip & Tuck, and Ralph seem rather sparse.

-edit- Whee! I've graduated form "Box Fodder" to "Digging an Escape Tunnel out of the Box" :D

I once found an article on Wikipedia that had "excessively long" and "insufficient information" flags both.

I've had to attend several meetings at work that could consistently have both of those flags attached.

You mean there are meetings that aren't guilty of insufficient information and excessive length?

A gathering of peope that is excessively long for discrimination of insufficient information. :o :)

The TotQ WikiFur article (which was initially copied from the WikiPedia article) is one of the longest on WikiFur. The N&T and GH articles are typical of the level of detail found in the articles for most other furry webcomics.

Well, I'm in the process of streamlining it. Lemme know what you think.

The TOTQ article was incredibly long because the writer had summarised (and kept adding to) the ENTIRE PLOT of the series in exhaustive/ing detail. That ain't the way to write an encyclopedia article.

The revised version is much more succinct, although it might perhaps benefit from a little more information about the plot and characters.

*shrugs* Ask Ralph. I was steadily working it down to something more managable, but he just told me to get rid of all of it.

Hey, you do what the boss says. I saw that when I looked at the versions. Good job Aurrin. :)
