First two panels of this comic...
I'm surprised not to see any speculation on it.
Meribeth: <chuckle> It's all right, Quentyn... It seems I do owe you. Forget about it.
Questor: "'Owe Me'"?
I'm with the Questor on this one... any ideas why she owes him anything???
Meribeth "owes" him??

The field is pretty wide on that one.
The plot Quentyn uncovered would have caused trouble for Meribeth or her family?
Meribeth was in town when the Rat Wights emerged and feels she (indeed, the whole town) owes him for saving her life?
Something Quentyn said or did caused her to remember something that was useful for her?
She's setting him up for a "naked Questor" joke?
He caused the house staff to discover that hole in the wall, and by which may have prevented a crime?
His lux flare was the perfect firework accompaniment to the family lawn party?
She discovered the young man she'd been dating was a gang member because of Quentyn's actions?
Well, that's a start, anyway...

Avoid those who speak badly of the people, for such wish to rule over you.

Re: Meribeth "owes" him??
Well, she's only really met him three times, at his celebration in the bar, on the luftship, and at the party. This makes his fourth meeting. I'd say it was connected with the party.LeiraHoward wrote:First two panels of this comic...

But she said she would explain later.

He provided the only true entertainment at the party(or some variant thereof).
"...I mean, I'll kill a man in a fair fight. Or if I think he's gonna start a fair fight. Or if he bothers me. Or if there's a woman. Or if I'm gettin' paid. Mostly only when I'm gettin' paid. But these Reavers... Eaten' people alive? Where does that get fun?"
