CRACK!

Post by Tom Mazanec »

I can hardly blame Quentyn (although I personally would not have done that particular move, even in his position). But it does bring up a problem...what happens when the gang members get out of stir?

Heh heh, just kick their rears again.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

I'm not sure if they're going to get out of the gaol... After all they have some pretty steep fines, themselves, and their money has been confiscated as evidence.

Do they expect their buyers to bail them out? Heh. They're no longer of any use, ergo, they feel that the scum can rot.

Heh. I'd look forward to having them try it. You think that Freeman Downs would tolerate the kind of hooligans the gangers are? The locals would round 'em up and dump them back in stir in a heartbeat, probably with a good beating for sauce. They're brave on their own turf, if not that competent against properly organized forces, but they'd be babes in the woods in the countryside.

It's the funniest thing in the world to watch inner-city tough kids spend a night in the woods... with a little imagination you can get them to be scared of -anything-.

Oh, dear. Assaulting a prisoner? That's got to be worth at least, oh, I don't know... a good stiff talking-to?

The possibility of out-of-towners riding in to settle a score with someone is probably something the elders back in Freeman Downs have some idea how to handle. Quentyn might be reluctant to alert them to the possibility of him being a target, but Meribeth knows too and would probably mention it to them.

Nothing better than taking the leader and putting him in place in front of his gang. :) :) Chalk one up for Quentyn.

Let's check the score.
Quentyn has Wildcard stolen - Royals 1 :(
Quentyn saves Scratch from Red Caps - Quentyn 1 :)
Quentyn get caught and beaten up - Royals 1 :(
Quentyn Tricks Redcaps to attack Royals - Quentyn 1 :)
Quentyn destroys the Royals hideout - Quentyn 1 :)
Quentyn neutralizes all their weapons and gets Wildcard back - Quentyn 1 :)
Quentyn puts Royals leader in his place - Quentyn 1 :)

Yep Quentyn leads 5 to 2. Me thinks the Royals should quit before it becomes an even bigger rout. :) :) :)

Hello everyone. I'm back now. I just took my last final exam yesterday! I don't know if I passed my classes or not, but I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh, I like your new avatar, Solidus. :-) I decided to change mine too, but this picture is an older one.

You don't know the half of it. My dad had to work with juvenile delinquents from the city at one job. They were driving a bunch of them to the center from the airport and had to stop next to a cow pasture. The cows came wandering over to the fence to see what was going on, like cows occasionally do.... the kid freaked. he thought it was a stampede.

There was another kid who refused to go into the woods because he thought the squirrels and rabbits would swarm him....

I have only one thing to say about the last panel...Why was Quentyn so nice to him?

*Quentyn to Jakob*

*Tight hissing whisper*

"Now that I have your undivided attention, listen carefully.....What you and your gang of idiots do here in Sanctuary City is none of my concern.....you stole my sword and I wanted it back.....that is the only reason I got involved with you.....But......you come to my village....for any reason......you may not leave alive! This is not a threat....this is a statement of immutable fact!"

"And stop bleeding all over the floor.....you're not hurt that bad."

I'm sure he'll be very very glad to be back home. He got to see the best and worst of the big city. I'm not so certain he'll have work once he gets there though.

He's still a kid. He's still a questor. The town will be split between those who are mortified, those who are proud, and those who think it's all a big joke. Unfortunately for his finances, there probably still isn't any business for a questor in Freeman Downs.

He'll get involved in something. Otherwise the strip would get boring, and that just ain't gonna happen.

Dang, and all I was thinking was: "Who makes a necklace cord THAT strong?"
Eh, maybe if the original owner was afraid it would be stolen while he or she was wearing it.

Also you've got to think: gangbangers, and their ilk are essentially bullies. He can brag, boast, and threaten from the stir, because he feels safe. Guess he found out that he wasn't as safe as he thought.

In the urban parlance of Sanctuary City, I supposed they'd say he just got KNOCKED THE FEWMETS OUT. ;)
