Double-sized Lab Bratz!

Post by Amtekoth »

The newest episode of our online comic, Lab Bratz, is double-sized, Sunday-style! We've been getting a lot of positive feedback, even reaching the top spot on some of the web voting sites! So thanks if you've voted for us, we do appreciate it. We're also trying to get a company to license the strip in their monthly newsletter, which would be neat (and actually bring in some money!)

The first episode is at:

http://LabBratz.comicgenesis.com/d/20050305.html

The most recent episode (#37!) is at:
http://LabBratz.comicgenesis.com

We haven't had the time to update the site code to make it look cooler, but at least we haven't missed any weekly updates!

Take care,

Ed (Amtekoth)
and Max

Ah, I see you know the joyous sound of bacteria frying on a scalding spreader, and the other pleasantries usually found in the laboratories.

I think you should add a little burning of human flesh to make your comic palatable for those who never entered a biological lab.

Riiight...I've never actually seen anyone catch on fire & burn in the lab, thank goodness. Fires yes, death and pain, no.

Hey, if you like horror, you can check out my horror anthology, A Gathering of Crows, which used to be here on comicgenesis A Gathering of Crows, but is now on the subscription site Graphic Smash!

Wow. Nice use of black and white. Wish I spotted it when it was still on keenspace...

However, since I have been the reluctant spectator of tragical events such as:

1) Burned lab coats
2) Leaks of ethidium bromide and consequent panic
3) Droolings over Petri dishes

... and other less hideous calamities, I was only suggesting to allow more clumsyness in LabBratz.
You see, I laughed when I read this, but I do not think it would have been so funny for those who do not know what DNA stands for.

Thanks, Andrew Kudelka is an awesome artist. He and Adam McDaniel worked on most of my short horror stories. Sometime in 2006, Andrew and I should be putting together a werewolf story graphic novel that contains some of his best work.

Maxie is my klutz. Everything goofy that I've done or seen over the years gets channeled through him. He's also the sci-fi guy who quotes Star Wars and Tolkein and does impersonations. I try not to overuse him. I have a hundred strips planned for him, but I've got other characters too. Lilly the liar, Dodds with the short fuse, trippy Dr. Ruby, the college students, and even a few who I haven't even introduced yet.

Somebody wrote to me: "I want more rats!". Which is cool, I love the rats, and we'll get back to them eventually. If I can keep my artist, Max, happy, I have enough anecdotes to do this for years.

As for the difficulty of the material for non-lab folk...yeah...I hear you. I try to explain it enough so that anyone can catch the drift, but scientists won't feel talked-down to. Not an easy path, you know? Sometimes I don't realize that I'm using jargon, "special" knowledge...but I feel that sometimes when I'm reading Penny Arcade. Ah well!

Thanks for dropping in, reading and commenting!
